I was very impressed with several players throughout the course of the tournament.
Here’s a rundown of several standout outside and right side (oppo) hitters who really brought their A-game and left a lasting impression over the weekend.
Jada (photo above) has been very impressive in multiple tournaments. She had several key, uncontested right side kills and hit just as aggressive on the outside during this tournament. Jones is good at finding and hitting the holes on the court, often beating the block. Her full extension when hitting allows her to catch the ball at the highest point, giving her the option of hitting sharp cross court or line. The freshman helped her team finish third in the 16 premier division. Jada is proving to be one of the top right side hitters in the class of 2027.

Taylor Anderson
Taylor is absolutely one of the top hitters in her class, and Nevada overall. The freshman predominately hits on right side, but can hit just as well outside when necessary. Power, energy and technique distinguishes this pin hitter from many of her peers. The lefty is great at hitting through and around blocks, using her quick arm swing and high vertical to her advantage. If you leave line open on right side, teams better be ready for very hard-driven ball that will be very difficult to dig. In addition to being a stud hitter, Anderson also gets the opportunity to play on back row. Taylor helped her 15s team secure an impressive second place in the 16 Open’s gold bracket. Looking forward to catching this 4A state champion in action next season.

Audrianne Bernard
Audrianne was one of the most explosive hitters I caught in action at the tournament. The outside has a ton of power behind her quick armswing and racked up quite a few kills over the weekend. She can block well and attack equally as hard on both outside and right side. This makes her an absolute threat on front row. Effectively hitting around and through the block, she is a force to be reckoned with. Not to mention, when she plays all six rotations, you gain a high energy back row hitter and defensive specialist that reads well. Bernard’s versatility and excellence across various aspects of volleyball make her an ideal six-rotation player, highly sought after by colleges.

Madelin is a true six rotation player, excelling as an outside hitter and defensive specialist. Her deep cross court shots and sharp angle are very difficult to defend and she has mastered it. She quickly snaps her wrist at a high contact which often beats the block and beats defenders that are trying to get set. She is very solid on serve receive, effectively passing hard float serves well. Additionally, her ability to anticipate opponent attacks allow her to position herself strategically for effective digs. With her talent and skills, she should prove to be a major threat next school season.
Kianna is an outstanding, versatile hitter that is currently playing up on her club’s 16s team. She can hit effectively in just about any position on front row, but I caught her action playing middle this past weekend. Maiava was very explosive in middle, hitting powerful shots to the deep corners of her opponents side. Her strategic hits and big blocks get the entire team excited and keeps the morale high. Even when the team is down, you would never know because Kianna continues to play hard and cheer hard. Most impressively, the freshman has an insane vertical that allows her to out jump her taller opponents. Kianna helped her team finish in the top ten of the 16 Premier division.

Tori is another pin hitter that is good in multiple areas of volleyball, which allows her to stay on the court full games. She has one of the quickest arm swings in her class and is very exciting to watch. Whether hitting cross court or line, you can count on her to give it her all and play strategic by mixing hits, off speed shots and tips. On back row, she can dig the hard hit balls and make clean passes on serve receive to help setup a good play. Not to mention, she has a great serve that resulted in many aces over the weekend. Tori’s proficiency across all aspects of the game marks her as an elite talent in her class.
