I was very impressed with several players throughout the course of the tournament.
Here’s a rundown of several standout setters that really brought their A-game and left a lasting impression over the weekend.
Chan has been on my radar for a few months and I got the opportunity to catch her in action a few times throughout the tournament. She excelled at placing the ball in a great position for her hitters no matter where she was setting from on the court. On top of having clean sets and well-timed dumps, her float serve is very impressive as well. Her great decision-making abilities in challenging situations helped her team to finish first in the 14 Open. Trisha is already displaying some elite level talent and proving herself to be one of the top setters in Nevada.

Sawyer Frank
Sawyer Frank
Sawyer’s athleticism plays a big part in her overall game. Even when passes are a bit off, she uses speed and strength to still push a balls to a great spot for her hitters. In the front row, Frank approaches defense with the agility and tactics of a hitter, securing crucial blocks and capitalizing on overpasses. Right off the back, her decision making skills impressed me a lot. She was very aware of who was hot, where the block was weak and when to send it over on second ball. She ended a few long rallies with some very strategic setter dumps. This freshman is already showing high volleyball iq and can only get better from here.
Marley is a standout player on her club’s 17s team and played a key role in their impressive ninth-place finish in the tournament. With excellent form, she delivered good, high balls to her pins, granting them plenty of attack options.rnMurphy’s versatility shined through when it came to mixing up her sets along the front row and executing unsuspecting setter dumps. Her strong serve and natural hustle make her a force on the court. I can’t wait to see Lesli in action during the upcoming school season.

Clara Conrado
Clara Conrado
Clara, a freshman playing on her club’s 18s team, excels at setting up her teammates for success. She has an impressive ability to better the ball and place it perfectly for powerful attacks. Her technique, form, and footwork are outstanding. Conrado varies her sets strategically to confuse blockers and makes sure to play defense first when on back row. She helped her team win first in the 18 premier division with a perfect 9-0 record. With a high volleyball IQ, Clara is emerging as one of the top setters in her class. I’ll be watching her closely in the next school season.
Ilana Lee
Ilana Lee
Ilana excelled at ball placement when setting, especially to her outside and opposite pins. Her sets consistently landed in a great spot, allowing her hitters to take powerful, full swings. She is incredibly agile, able to move quickly to off-target balls and still deliver ideal sets. Ilana brings high energy to the court, plays strong backrow defense, and ensures she covers her hitters. Her focus and decision-making during games have been crucial to her team’s impressive performances, including securing third place in the 16 Open division of this tournament.
Great job setters! Looking forward to catching more of these standout players next school season. If there is a player you would like to add to my radar, please email me at: lasvegasvbanalyst@gmail.com or DM me on Instagram @lasvegasvbanalyst
