There’s nothing quite like a Prep Dig showcase!
When in Vegas, it’s hot outside, but even hotter in the gym! This showcase was insanely stacked! Talent from across the country from the likes of Maryland to Montana and the home state of Nevada. This showcase was a particular treat because I got to put a lot of new names onto my radar! An even better thing, is now I get to put you all on!
I had the honor of focusing on the pins group which was an insanely hard task! With over 70 pins in the gym, and 200+ athletes total, I tried my best to grab a hold of every player I could.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the best outside hitters at the Week 1 Prep Dig x USAV Showcase in Vegas!
Isabel Kline – Dig This !
This player has a very nice hall to hand contact. Accelerating nicely into the ball, Kline is able to put in a lot of power into her swings. She sees ball well on right side which makes her quite a weapon on both pins.
Sophia Cotter – Sunshine
Sophia Cotter can get on top of ball VERY fast. She uses her whole body for the attack and in turn gets a lot of pop in her swing. I was a big fan from the jump watching her throughout the warm up portion of the camp until the end.
Synia Hunt – Greg 17 Rage*
This player is a little undersized but yet plays with a lot of pop and gets on top of the ball FAST! Synia Hunt seems to be one of those smaller players that can just give opponents absolute fits during game time.
Parys Taylor – LAVA North
Parys Taylor is another big time leaper. She elevates really well off of the ground and can hammer away with just about the best of them in the gym.
Alexis Esparza – Pipeline
It’s a lot of fun to see a pool of attackers like at this showcase and compare them. Alexis Esparza takes a very cerebral approach to her attack. She sees the court very well and therefore finds her points from her vision which sometimes works better than her all out swings.

not only gets off the ground very fast, but she does so in a very smooth way! She brings a wide range of shots with her hand to ball contact and she scores really well.
Julianna Pheil – Desert Sports VBC
Bringing all of energy to the court, whether it is with her booming swings or cheering on her newfound teammates. Julianna Pheil brings big play and brings big energy. Pheil was a ton of fun to key in on.
Gia Duenez – United VBA
Between her arm and her wrist control on the ball; this outside hitter moves her swings around with a lot of range. Gia Duenez elevates extremely well off of the ground and gets onto the ball extremely fast.
Addison Green – Athena
Addison Green is another one of those smart attackers. While she can hang and bang with the best of the bunch, she can also take the smart shots and clip off the block. Catching her in game time action at the end was a lot of fun.
Nina Schweigert – Loudoun Elite
Something to truly admire in a young attacker is their vision for not only the court but the immediate space in front of them. Nina Schweigert sees the block very well and tools just as well. She is a shorter player but yet makes the most of her net play.

On the right side this player has a nice range of attacks in her artillery. Getting it done with power, off speed or her block,

– BBCLV
Despite her slight undersize, this attacker makes up a great deal in not only her jump but in her vision for the court.

out of BBCLV is another one of those ‘annoying’ outside hitters. You can’t necessarily get a grasp on what she’s about to bring and in turn getting scored on.
