California High School Report Vol 2

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The high school season is now upon us!&nbsp; Who has what it takes to win the coveted State Championship?&nbsp; California is one of the best states in the nation when it comes to this wonderful sport and we are here to highlight all of our amazing teams and players.&nbsp; Let's meet a few of the teams and players who are poised for a solid run this season.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Cathedral Catholic Dons</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This amazing volleyball program is always one of the top dogs each volleyball season and this season is no different.  Although there were some key departures stemming from graduation, they have some returning studs that will keep their winning tradition alive.  Senior leadership from outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='291971' first='Mae' last='Kordas'] and libero [player_tooltip player_id='366679' first='Maya' last='Evens'] will make sure that everyone on the roster sticks to the game plan and stays cohesive.  Miss Kordas is a phenomenal lengthy attacker who can score in bunches from the front row and back row.  Maya is as good as they come in the back row.  I have seen her in action for the past few years and she is a beast with her platform and footwork.  Senior opposite Emma Ewart and junior outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='391089' first='Madyson' last='McCarthy'] are two strong hitters who can light up the stat book and scoreboard.  Junior setter [player_tooltip player_id='502070' first='Bryce' last='Buchner'] has a strong and tall frame that can give opponents trouble.  Super sophomore setting stud Kale'a Lee has gotten some amazing experience playing up in club and is ready to dish some dimes to her awesome attackers.  Senior outside hitter Sophia LaSala cannot be overlooked with her size, power and key contributions to the squad.  Junior middles Kensley Hennessey and [player_tooltip player_id='712220' first='Allison' last='Dzieciuch'] are tall and very powerful middles who will be blocking and hitting forces for the Dons.  There are two amazing sophomore studs who round out the firepower of this juggernaut squad.  Sophomore right side [player_tooltip player_id='545272' first='Olivia' last='Greenwood'] and outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='489536' first='Kylee-Jo' last='(JoJo) Wilson'] will be hard to miss as they are lethal scorers and awesome on defense.  This team has very little weaknesses and will be looked at to be a very dominant force in the volleyball world in our wonderful state. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Archbishop Mitty Monarchs</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It is often said that all championship teams have senior leadership that gel the team and hold everyone accountable because they have been there for the last three years through all the ups and downs.&nbsp; This awesome squad is littered with upperclassmen that will power this team to the State tourney. &nbsp;Last season they went 33-5 and finished second in their league with an 11-1 record.&nbsp; They had a magical run in the State tourney and have everything they need for a solid run to a championship this year.&nbsp; Electric outside hitters [player_tooltip player_id='478925' first='Leyna' last='Nguyen'] and [player_tooltip player_id='508795' first='Makenna' last='Crosson'] can score with anyone in the state.&nbsp; They have both proven to be very hard to stop on the offensive end.&nbsp; We have seen them both in action this past club season and they look ready to be assassins for this school season.&nbsp; Senior setter [player_tooltip player_id='219325' first='Maya' last='Baker'] is lauded as one of the best distributors of the rock in the entire nation and she is looking to end her senior season on top of the standings.&nbsp; She is silky smooth and has sniper level location with every set, no matter the tempo.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='538061' first='Isabella' last='Romero'] and [player_tooltip player_id='391090' first='Eliot' last='Diehl Palmer'] will be valuable contributors to this team's barrage of hard driven attacks to the opposing side.&nbsp; Jasmine Shum, Gianna Majlesara, Kate Sentous and Amiya Kuchibhotla will all use their amazing experience they have gathered over the past few years to be formidable stoppers in the middle for the Monarchs.&nbsp; I think they can be undefeated at home again this season and in my opinion, they are one of the favorites to win the final prize.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As always stay tuned for more articles on your favorite teams and athletes.&nbsp;
