Who are the best freshmen volleyball players in Texas? We definitely saw some players who wanted that title over the weekend at our Freshman Showcases. The second session was held on Sunday July 28th at the Courtside Sports Center facility in Carrollton, TX. The one aspect that sets our showcases apart from every other one in the country is how we offer coverage, before, during, and after it is completed. This series of articles will discuss those special players that stood out for various reasons to our court coaches and scouts. They have won our prestigious Top Performer award. Let's meet the winners!

Kate is currently an unranked prospect in the 2028 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet. She plays volleyball at Walnut Grove High School and plays for the [program_tooltip program_id='431200' first='Madfrog' last=''] club volleyball program. Miss Clegg can flat out ball. It was very nice to see such a talented player dominate on both sides of the ball. Her blocking is astounding out of the opposite position. She was not afraid to go up against any attacker and battled very well. I really loved her impeccable timing and how she reaches over the net nicely to seal it away from would-be scorers. As an attacker, she was very physical and scored both with hard driven shots and timely shots. When the blockers give her an inch of space, she attacks with a violent swing that is hard to slow down. Some players were just born to play this wonderful sport and Kate is one of those phenoms. Blessed with an electric arm swing and court vision of a seasoned veteran, she will be a tough out for anyone that tries to stop her. If you don't know who she is yet, give it some time…you will very soon. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award.

[player_tooltip player_id='569814' first='Zoila' last='Luna'] [2028] 5-6 Outside (HS: Nolan Catholic/Club: [program_tooltip program_id='431321' first='Texas' last='Image']/Verbal: Uncommitted)

Zoila is currently an unranked prospect in the 2028 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet. She plays volleyball at Nolan Catholic High School and club for the [program_tooltip program_id='431321' first='Texas' last='Image'] volleyball program. Miss Luna balled out from many locations on her court during the scrimmage portion of the showcase. What I saw from her was a player who would do anything to help her team win without question. I loved her heart and determination that she showed during the two hours. It didn't matter what position she was asked to play, she did it with control and focus. When there weren't enough middles to play, she kindly stepped in and gave it her all. I also loved how her solid hand contact allowed her to control her attack and keep the rally alive for her team even during out of system plays. We are very proud that she proved herself and earned every bit of this award with her production on the court. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award at the showcase.

[player_tooltip player_id='575147' first='Stella' last='Sanford'] [2028] 5-3 Setter (HS: Frisco Wakeland/Club: [program_tooltip program_id='431308' first='Texas' last='Advantage']/Verbal: Uncommitted)

Stella is currently an unranked prospect in the 2028 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet. She plays volleyball at Frisco Wakeland High School and also for the [program_tooltip program_id='431308' first='Texas' last='Advantage'] Volleyball club program. Miss Sanford shows a lot of poise for a young setter and looks like a veteran with the way she moves the ball around. Her focus is strong and she knows how to run an offense at a high level. I love how she was jump setting and keeping the defense off-balance. Her leadership and attitude are two things that made her stand out very well on her court. As a leader, she was getting very excited for everyone despite not knowing many players on her court. This tells me all I need to know about her as a volleyball player and teammate. We will be keeping our eye on her and you should also. Please help us congratulate her on earning the Top Performer award for this showcase.
