Ballard head coach Doug Coan said Blain can hit around blockers and finds the open parts of the court. Coan credits the work she's put into her approach and timing as keys to that. Vest finds a number of ways to score points. She puts the talented Central Hardin hitters in position to succeed and has an amazing jump setter dump. It's deceptive because region opponents say you never know when it is coming. Vest helped the Bruins go 5-0 winning the Kentucky Challenge including wins over Frederick Douglass and Lexington Catholic. She helps draw defenders away from teammates. She can hit off blocks. Blakey is also a solid blocker for the Generals. She reads setters, hitters and times the spikes well.
