Louisville Volleyball Invitational Tournament Preview

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The annual Louisville Volleyball Invitational Tournament once again has a variety of teams from around the country.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The field consists of 11 teams from Kentucky, five from Ohio, three from Tennessee and one from Missouri, Illinois and California, respectively. Teams play in pool play on Friday before going to bracket play on Saturday. Teams are guaranteed five games.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The two highest ranked teams in one poll are the host Assumption Rockets and the Mother McAuley Mighty Macs. Assumption moved to 11- 0 with a win over St. Thomas Aquinas (Florida), which is a tournament participant. Mother McAuley also stayed undefeated at 9-0 with a 3-1 win at Sacred Heart on Thursday.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Two other teams come into the tournament undefeated in Magnificat and Ryle. Another one has just one loss in DuPont Manual. She has a good rhythm setting balls to her teammates including jump sets. Hensley does a good job mixing in back tips and setter dumps. She is also a reliable hitter. She does a great job keeping her hands and arms below her hips to make solid contact on balls. Maloney dives to the ground trying to keep plays alive. She brings the lefty dynamic as a server. She rises up and puts a lot of power into balls. Ciresi can power balls off hitters out of bounds. Ciresi can make things happen with out of system passes. She smacks down overpasses and short sets from the middle.
