The high school season is now well underway and there have been some exciting matches so far. Who has what it takes to win the coveted State Championship? Let's meet a few of the teams and players who are poised for a solid run this season.

Mount St. Mary Rockets

Currently sitting at 23-1 are the rockets from Mount St. Mary who are firing on all cylinders. Their high-octane offense is the result of quite a few studs who are showcasing their skills. It all starts with the amazing hands of super stud senior setter [player_tooltip player_id='212407' first='Livia' last='Ward']. We have been covering her since her freshman year and she is still the cream of the crop when it comes to setters in the Sooner state. There is nothing that this young lady can't do on the court and we are very proud that she is from Oklahoma. The Washington State commit will be an immediate impact player next season in college, but we get one more season to see her perform. She delivers the ball to some wonderful attackers who are lighting up the scoreboard. Junior outside [player_tooltip player_id='253948' first='Ella' last='Hale'] has been phenomenal on the left side as she leads the team in kills so far this season. Routinely in double digit kills for each match, she is one of the “Go To” hitters when the games get a little tight. I love the way they bring her around for second tempo sets out of the middle from serve receive as it is very hard to stop. She can surely thread the needle from the left side pin also. Senior middle [player_tooltip player_id='212441' first='Georgia' last='Ahlert'] has a great connection with Liv on quick attack attempts. The fact that they are able to run the middle so efficiently is one huge reason why they are hard to match up with. Georgia is aggressive and always ready for the ball to be fed to her. She does such a great job of hitting the corners around the block for the easy score. One very surprising star for this team has been the emergence of freshman phenom [player_tooltip player_id='697434' first='Isabella' last='Williams']. Her speed all over the court can be seen both offensively and defensively. She has been a fantastic addition to their roster this season and contributes mightily to their winning ways. A truly gifted scorer, she is able to score in a variety of ways from the pins whether that is down the line, tooling the block, or a cross-court shot to a hole in the defense. The back row for this juggernaut squad is held down by stud senior libero [player_tooltip player_id='206957' first='MacKenzi' last='Bass']. Playing with ultimate confidence and stellar ball control, she helps to keep this team in system and aggressive. Her footwork is sound and her posture stays disciplined in order to pass/dig at a high level. What I really love about her play is how she is able to use her hands and arms to perform emergency digs and keep the rally alive. Some other key contributors for this awesome team have been middle [player_tooltip player_id='741331' first='Anna' last='Spurlock'] who has been blocking well and sophomore opposite [player_tooltip player_id='750189' first='Emma' last='Fudickar']. We will be writing more on this awesome team soon, so stay tuned for more.

Moore Lions

The Lions are 15-2 overall on the season and are really showing their teeth to opponents. They are led by super senior outside hitter and deadly assassin [player_tooltip player_id='212408' first='Addison' last='Worley']. They will go as far as her magical right arm will take them. The high-flying superstar is known for being unafraid and always ready for war. When you watch her play, you see someone who is super confident and wants the ball in her hands at the crucial times of any match. She is a very skilled scorer who can fill up a stat book in a hurry with her electric approach and arm swing. The three-sport stud is very athletic and lightning fast as she moves around the court. Her partner in crime on this offense is fellow senior outside hitter Karlee Siegfried who averaging a double digit kill total for each match. Senior middle [player_tooltip player_id='297106' first='Mia' last='Benson'] does a great job of patrolling the net and scoring with well-timed tips and off-speed shots. Her middle counterpart, senior [player_tooltip player_id='297105' first='Jocelyn' last='Thomas'], is very active at the net also. The blocking is shored up with sophomore opposite [player_tooltip player_id='750951' first='Jaely' last='Bell'] on the right side. She provides a much needed defense against the oppositions top pin hitters. I love how senior libero [player_tooltip player_id='212433' first='Lauryn' last='Weber'] keeps her posture forward while digging. By keeping her shoulders down and abs crunched she can be sure that the ball is going to rebound toward the net and her setter. This kind of attention to detail and being coachable is key for any libero to succeed. Junior setter [player_tooltip player_id='745098' first='Kristen' last='Straughn'] is the main reason why this team is dangerous. She runs a very fast-paced 5-1 offense and can track down any ball to deliver it to her awesome hitters. The fact that she plays defense like a libero out of the right front and back zones is a big reason why this team is tough to score on. The way we see it, Moore will go very far in the playoffs if they continue to play together like they have been. They look like they have a lot of fun together and feed off of each other's energy.

As always stay tuned for more articles on your favorite teams and athletes. If you have anyone you think we should watch out for, please shoot me an email with some info at Michael@prepdig.com. Also don't forget to help these kids get more exposure by sharing our stories with your friends. Help us help them by simply reposting or sharing on social media. Thanks for following us, Prep Dig Oklahoma Family! Don't be afraid to interact with us. We love the likes, shares, and quotes/comments. Keep them coming!
