MVL Regular Season Recap: Tippecanoe undefeated until last game

The Red Devils did not lose a game until losing 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-16) at Versailles on Saturday. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Miami division finished the regular season strong with all but Piqua finishing with winning record in both league play and overall. Butler (15-3 MVL), Troy (13-5) and Greenville (12-6) had above .500 seasons along with Valley Division champion Sidney (12-6).</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Red Devils have two players in the top five in the MVL in several categories. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='758071' first='Savannah' last='Clawson'] is third in kills with 217 and fourth with 57 aces. Senior Jenna Krimm is third with 59 aces and fifth with 323 aces. Senior Emily Aselage is fifth in kills with 154 kills. Sophomore Faith Siefering is fourth in the league with 330 digs. Sophomore 6-1 middle blocker Lexie Luginbuhl and junior [player_tooltip player_id='759659' first='Courtney' last='Post'] are third and fifth with 57 and 49 blocks, respectively.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Valley champion Sidney had two players in the top two of league play. Junior Alena Swearingen leads the league with 494 assists and senior Cynthia Davidson is second with 244 kills.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Butler Aviators only lost twice to Tippecanoe and at Troy in league play. Junior Laila Neely is second in digs with 388 and senior Addison Suess is second with 69 blocks.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Troy Trojans lost their first five games this season, but rebounded to win the final six. Senior Kayla Huber leads the Trojans ranked second in the league with 62 aces and fourth in assists with 325. Junior Sophie Michalos ranks fourth in the league with 164 kills.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Greenville also had a tough start to the season opening with losses at Tippecanoe and Butler. The Green Wave won their first game in a quad match against Bradford then proceeded to reel off five in a row after that and had another five-game winning streak at the end of the season before finishing with a 3-2 loss at Sidney. Senior Brooke Schmidt led the league with 333 kills and third-year junior starting setter [player_tooltip player_id='227818' first='Kindyl' last='Peltz'] is second with 480 assists. Peltz does a great job serving to targets. Peltz has 1,801 assists for her career. Schmidt is a three-sport athlete for Greenville.
