2024/25 All-State Awardees: Large West Talents

Greer is smart with her shots, placing the ball just outside of the defender's reach. She is bouncy which helps her when she runs an in-system 2 ball. Greer hits with power as well as placement. She seems to read the moments of the game well, knowing when it is time to pull out a smart off-speed shot, and when it's time to swing full throttle through a gap in the opposing blockers. She played a big role for her high school team as a pin hitter. Mayli is also skilled in defense in right back as a setter. I guess it's safe to say she is a utility player. Mayli swings hard on the right side adding a lot of topspin to her attack. The spin her ball has makes it difficult for defenders to read and get under as her ball drops to the ground quickly. Mayli is smart with her tips as an attacker and her dumps as a setter. She sees the court well and is comfortable pushing the ball into deep corners away from defenders. Sydney has an off-the-charts volleyball IQ that she uses to her team's advantage. She can use her middles to pull blockers and then flip the ball back to the RS or out to the OH to get them one-on-ones. She can read these real-time changes in the other teams' blocking to feed the ball to the best hitter when in the system. Sydney is also talented in the out-of-system setting game. She utilizes both her hands and platform to set up out-of-system balls to give her team a chance to swing on an otherwise chaotic play. Although undersized, Addison takes big rips on her swings and commands she be treated like all other taller outsides. Addison has a big verticle which helps her get up and become a force at the net. Addison's experience in the L/DS role gives her strengths as an OH in serve receive and defense. Addison attacks like a 6-foot OH and defends like a 5-foot Libero. Georgia is an athletic middle who tracks her opposing attackers well. She has quick feet that help her get out to the pins to close blocks uniformly. She reads setters well which also gives her an advantage in knowing where the ball is about to go for her to move accordingly. Georgia runs a mean slide attack making her powerful in a 5-1 scenario.
