The weekend came and went with a thunderous excitement in the sports community because the NIAA State Championship Finals were finally here. The players, coaches & parents have worked extremely hard throughout the last three months to earn the opportunity to compete for the title and every bit of the excitement was on full display. Many teams from the Northern, Central and Southern part of Nevada came to Las Vegas to light up the floor and fire up the crowd and every player is to be commended for their athleticism & desire to compete. During the quarterfinals, semifinals and the championship final, I had the opportunity to witness teamwork, hustle, passion and drive. Let's look at some of the teams & some of prospects that are well deserving of recognition.

Pahranagat Valley Panthers (NIAA 1A State Champions)

The Panthers came to Vegas and stood strictly on business and set out to accomplish the goal of the becoming the 1A State Champions and did they! Not only did they do it, they did it in a resounding and astonishing way. Their fanbase rolled in deep numbers, their student section was on fire and every voice echoed off the walls as they celebrated every single point earned and given. The Lady Panthers were all in, leading the way through active teamwork that fired up the crowd and gave their team the well-earned victory. Setters Rylee Lewis & Shada Spencer, put out a great effort to place themselves in position to assist OH Camryn Cannon, MB Mylah Stout, MB Alivia Walch & OH Hadee Walch as they dominated the championship game and this without a doubt gave way to the momentum that was on constant display. Huge Congratulations to the PVHS Panthers!

The Panthers Prospect Highlights

https://youtu.be/KlUda1BXJIs

Smith Valley Bulldogs

The Smith Valley Bulldogs came and brought a valiant effort through the semifinals & the championship that left no doubt as to why they are one of the best teams in the 1A division. Watching these phenomenal prospects display their talent and teamwork gave reason and proof, establishing their names in the records books. Throughout the season and into the playoffs, this team was propelled, lead and pushed by their Senior MB [player_tooltip player_id='720101' first='Teagan' last='York'], Senior OH [player_tooltip player_id='582884' first='Ruby' last='DeChambeau'], Sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='720058' first='Shannon' last='Alexis gray'] (MB) & [player_tooltip player_id='719023' first='Madison' last='Slater'] (OH). These prospects set a standard for this team and every player pushed to meet & exceed that standard and this was accomplished by making it all the way to the finals. The resilience of this this team is to be respected. Well done, Bulldogs finishing as the Runner Up for State!

The Bulldogs Prospect Highlights

https://youtu.be/MeURCkJq0Nc

Eureka Vandals

This was a group of student-athletes I had to see. The Lady Vandals came into the quarter finals on fire and mission focused. Every single player on this team along with the coaching staff had solidifying reasons to set high expectations for this great group and they brought noise from the first whistle. The astounding prospects such as OH [player_tooltip player_id='720123' first='Megan' last='Johnson'], Senior Setter Natalie Gray, Junior MB Selene Contreras, and Sophomore OH/L [player_tooltip player_id='720401' first='Brooke' last='Watts'] played with tenacity and aggressiveness leaving everything on the floor. Slamming the ball down at every opportunity pushed the Vandals into the semifinal with one goal in mind. Although the ultimate goal wasn't completed, the accomplishment of this team is to be recognized as these leading prospects showcased that Eureka volleyball is every present. Great job Eureka Vandals!

The Vandals Prospect Highlights

https://youtu.be/iOKbW3cZ1mY

Round Mountain Knights

The Knights of Round Mountain established consistency and aggressive play during their playoff run and this was started by Captain Senior OH [player_tooltip player_id='719924' first='Kamryn' last='Warczak'] who lead this team is such an efficient, effective and dominant way! She is an absolute GO TO prospect that can be counted on at any given moment where an opportunity to fire up the team avails itself. Junior RS hitter [player_tooltip player_id='720197' first='Baylee' last='Dutton'] & Senior Setter [player_tooltip player_id='720059' first='Ava' last='Faga'] made noise and Junior Libero Laycii Thibodeaux moved with efficiency to cover the floor very, very well keeping the ball in play that gave the Knights many opportunities to stay on the attack. Congrats to this team of ballers on their playoff run.

The Knights Prospect Highlights

https://youtu.be/segHFJvpSlk

Liberty Baptist Academy Knights

The Liberty Baptist Knights faced a strong team, but they left it all on the floor in a great effort. There was no giving up in this team and it was an exciting opportunity for the prospects of this team to lead the way. Senior MH Emily Bottrell, Senior OH Hailey Shaffer, Senior Setter Angelina G & Sophomore Libero Leiah Shaffer were very effective at penetrating the towering defense and aggressive attacks of the Vandals. The Knights speared their way into several solid kills, great serves and they showed why they were strong enough to compete in the playoffs. Great job Liberty Baptist Academy!

https://youtu.be/sa2wpkkGWME

Coleville Wolves

The Coleville Wolves came into this playoff season ready to compete and they knew they faced a great challenge, but they were definitely up for it. They kicked off the quarterfinal game and pushed their opponent to a five-game thriller and left it all on the floor for each other. Captain MB [player_tooltip player_id='589353' first='Jessa' last='Hysell'] was a huge difference maker with an effective & great presence at the net on both offense & defense. Senior RS Yasminne Acero had a very efficient impact offensively & Freshman pin hitters Mailine Acero & [player_tooltip player_id='720121' first='Kenna' last='Lange'] were both very strong from the service line while [player_tooltip player_id='720121' first='Kenna' last='Lange'] also played very well earning several kills throughout the match. The Wolves were a team of hustle and they put together a very good run in the playoffs.
