Here, we are getting to the big schools, and Class 4 is loaded with some big bombers for the 2028 class. I looked across the state to see what 2028 pins made big-time contributions this season. Please enjoy the seven players' highlights from the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='624662' first='Ries' last='Schnuck'] – 5'7” – John Burroughs

It doesn't surprise me that Ries is one of the top kill leaders in Class 4. She is a powerful outside hitter with an outstanding vertical and sees the blockers well enough to use the holes to hit through or power through the block. She finished the year with 280 kills and played the fewest sets than the following five players. Ries would average over three kills per set, and I'm excited to see her improve over the club season. She's going to be a big-time banger at Burroughs.

[player_tooltip player_id='729502' first='Dreya' last='Scherfenberg'] – 5'7” – Belton

Watching her play, you can tell she's been around the game for a long time. She makes up for what she lacks in height with her vertical and swing. Dreya already has a ton of power and will keep getting stronger, making her deadly. She can hit anywhere on the court and plays and passes with the best of them. Dreya finished the season as a stat stuffer with 246 kills and 319 digs and was one of the team's top passers.

[player_tooltip player_id='729601' first='Lyla' last='Dorsey'] – 5'8" – Hannibal

Lyla had an excellent first season at Hannibal and finished as the team's second-leading kill-scorer with 229. Her prominent approach and swing have nice hang time, and she sees the block well enough to hit the gaps or use the outside blocker's hands for a kill. Her backcourt play will improve, and she will be stronger defensively as she gains more experience.

[player_tooltip player_id='565545' first='Emma' last='Holstein'] – 5'7" – Springfield Catholic

The Fighting Irish have another big-time player coming up in the program. Emma filled some holes for Catholic this year as an outside hitter and setter. She has a high volleyball IQ and can rip the ball when needed or likes to catch the defense off guard with a sweet roll shot to the middle. She has excellent hands as a setter, and I will dive more into her setting in a later article. Emma finished the season with 173 kills, 415 assists, and 244 digs.

Leighton Copeland – 5'8" – Sikeston

Sikeston's not known for its volleyball program, but Leighton might turn that around. You can tell she's all about volleyball. She has a big, intense approach to the ball and hits a nasty line shot. A six-rotation outside finished the season with 158 kills, 165 digs, and one of the team's best passers.

[player_tooltip player_id='778330' first='Lila' last='Roth'] – 5'10" – Farmington

Volleyball is in her, and her sister plays D1 ball, so she has the athletic genes to become a big-time player for the Knights. At 5'10", she has some good height but will grow more, and her wingspan is long. The opposite hitter finished the season with 144 kills and 52 blocks. I predict she will be in the middle of her high school career at some point, and her improvement in the club season will be key for next year.

[player_tooltip player_id='676737' first='Violet' last='Hafer'] – 5'10' – West Plains

Violet comes from a family of athletes, and her mom was fantastic during her playing days for the Zizzers. Violet will be the best in the family. She's a strong attacker on the left pin, athletic, and has good power. Her defensive game will improve as she gains more playing experience, making her into a big-time six-rotation outside. Still, I can also see her playing middle because of her athleticism. Violet ended the season with 131 kills.
