Now that the dust has settled on the high school season and before we jump into the club season, I wanted to review some of the top Class 1 2028 players who made enormous contributions to their teams. Over the next few weeks, I'll scour the talent in the 2028 class and break them down by position and state classification. First up are the top attackers in the 2028 class for Class 1.

Sadie Kile – Middle – Winona

Sadie came in like a wrecking ball, led the 2028s for Class 1 in kills with 547, and hit a whopping .302. The middle led her team to a Class 1 state championship, playing all six rotations and ending her first season with 339 digs; she was one of the top passers on the team. A high volleyball IQ and a whip of an arm helped Sadie produce big-time results. It would help if you kept an eye on Sadie, as she could leave Winona with four straight state titles.

[player_tooltip player_id='729434' first='Asa' last='Lasater'] – Middle – Lockwood

Her team lost to Galena in the district championship, and Asa finished with 15 kills. The big, bouncy middle has a strong swing and plays great defense. She finished her first season with 469 kills and 433 digs. Another player in the 2028 class has huge potential for putting up monster numbers by the end of her career.

[player_tooltip player_id='729484' first='Loryn' last='Pierson'] – Middle – Bismarck

Bismarck gave Winona trouble in the state quarterfinals, and Loryn has been playing a massive role in the team's success. She is a big, strong, mobile middle who will keep getting better with more experience. Loryn's season high for kills was 18 in a five-set win over Bunker. At 6'0", she could turn into a beast for the Indians, and if Bismarck wants to make a final-four run next season, Loryn will be right in the middle of the action. Loryn finished third in Class 1 for 2028 players with 286 kills.

[player_tooltip player_id='729450' first='Kaelyn' last='Deckerd'] – Outside – Oak Ridge

Kaelyn was a big part of Oak Ridge's success this season, as they won their first district title in program history. Kaelyn finished the district championship match with a team-high 15 kills and 26 digs. Kaelyn shined the brightest when her team was pitted against the top Class 1 teams. Kaelyn finished her first season with 272 kills and the program's first district title.

[player_tooltip player_id='729518' first='Bella' last='Pogue'] – Outside – Ellington

Ellington is loaded with youth, and Bella is one of the most promising hitters coming up for the Whippets. Only 5'5", the high flyer uses her vertical and hang time to get the ball past the block. Bella finished the season with 265 kills to put her in 5th place for 2028 players in Class 1.

Preslie Mannon – Outside – Bell City

Bell City has cranked out some good players over the years, and Preslie will be one of them. She already has a great skill set: She can hit on either pin, plays great defense, and has a mean serve with over 100 aces this season. Preslie wrapped up her first season with the Cubs with 207 kills and 366 digs. Her development will be key to Bell City's future success.

Lauren Martin – Outside – Winona

Martin is part of a 2028 class at Winona that played a massive role in Winona's winning state. Without these kids, they don't win it. Lauren isn't the biggest and hardest hitter, but she plays her role well. She is one of my favorite role players in the final four in Class 1. She quietly does her job and contributed 172 kills and 324 digs.
