We've just released our updated rankings for the class of 2027. Here are a few things you should expect from us at PrepDig this week:

The rankings are a prediction of the athletes' FUTURES, not how good they are NOW.

We pride ourselves on ranking athletes according to what their future collegiate readiness is, not how good that athlete is right now. Of course, there are 5'5" setters out there at a small high school setting all of the program records and having a brilliant club career in the 15-whatever division. But how many 5'5" setters do you see at the collegiate level? Let alone a 5'5" setter running a 5-1 offense at, say, Indiana? Notre Dame? Butler? IU Indy? Of those four programs, the answer is NONE. Yes, your kid might be the best setter in her area, in her county, heck, even a first-team all-state honoree. But that does not predict their future, just what the opinion is of their comparison to their peers.

Speaking of opinions, that's what this is, and nothing more.

This is an opinion piece, and is highly subjective. Being on a 1s team at your club is nice. But that DOESN'T mean they're the best. They just fit that coach's plan for that team at that particular club. Of course, this is also meant to be fun, so.....

This whole rankings process is supposed to be fun. Let's make it fun for the kids.

It's not about the adults. We've had our time in the spotlight. Let's make it as fun as possible for the kids involved. No, being high on this list does not guarantee a scholarship. No, being low on this list doesn't not keep you from playing at the next level. Have fun with this opinion piece.

This week will be filled with articles featuring 25 unique athletes.

Each of these articles will have five athletes we've seen play live either in a high school match, a club match or at one of our showcases. The more times we see you, the more accurate we can be with our evaluations. Five athletes times five articles equals 25 unique athletes to write about this week. That's more exposure from us than any other publication out there, and our hyperlocal focus allows us to get up close and personal with all types of athletes, not just the top four or five.

See something we missed? A kind reach-out to us always helps.

Please note that I used the word "kind" in that title. We receive all kinds of hate mail, through DMs, emails, texts and the like, on a daily basis. I immediately delete and/or ignore negativity from my feed, and I might just remember the name/club that's attached to said comment. If you're nice, you'll get a response from me within 24 hours thanking you for the information and how we're going to edit our information. Of course, each and every one of you have access to your own profile and can change it on your own if you need an edit sooner. Be nice, as that is the only method we use here. After all, it's about the kids. Have fun!
