Efficient right-side hitters at Adidas Lone Star Classic

<p>The New Year has arrived and, for the club volleyball season, it means there are still several months of action until the summer, when the USA Volleyball National Championships will be held.</p>   <p>The 18s age group works on a different timeline, though, as they will play for the national title by the end of April, so it's time to start working towards qualification.</p>   <p>This weekend, teams in Texas will have a great opportunity to book their tickets to Salt Lake City, competing at home in the Adidas Lone Star Classic, one of the biggest national qualifiers held in the state, having the Austin Convention Center as the host, from Friday to Sunday.</p>   <p>Teams from all over the Lone Star State will be in action as the event will reunite 198 club teams split into four divisions. As we prepare for the start of the tournament, let's get to know some of the top Texas players who will be on the court. Today, we'll look into the right-side hitters who can carry their teams' offenses:</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Gemperle will appear with AJV 18 Adidas in the 18 Open division of the Lone Star Classic. A lefty, she is very explosive and has a very high contact point, which allows her to remain consistent even in out-of-system plays. Because of her excellent vision and body control, Gemperle can adjust to any set and still find a way to beat the block, making of her a very prolific scorer. Recognized as one of the top offensive players in the San Antonio area, she moved to Alamo this season after some years with [program_tooltip program_id='431257' first='San' last='Antonio Magic']. Capable of playing on the right and the left, Orellana is an elite scorer, who has the size, the power and the vision to consistently put the ball down from anywhere on the court. Thanks to her impressive shot selection, she makes very few errors and is capable of carrying a large offense load for her teams. Orellana is also an asset on the backcourt as she serves very well and is a reliable passer.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Hoskins will have a major scoring role with AP 18 Adidas in the tournament's 18 USA division. Expect her to float between the gith and the left according to her team's needs as she's versatile and well-rounded enough to play both roles at a very high level. Hoskins is an offensive-minded player, who gets the job done by playing with tremendous intensity and explosiveness at the net. She gets off the floor very well, has an incredibly heavy right arm and likes to hit combination plays in the middle, where she has more room to swing. She's a key piece in the team, splitting her time between setting and hitting and playing both roles at a very high level. A very technical player, O'Shaughnessy incorporates that into her offense, showing creative and sophisticated wells to score points, even though she has the size and power to do it in other ways. The right-side hitter also has a strong blocking presence, using her long arms extremely well to take up space up at the net.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">McConn will appear for the Houston Stars 18 Adidas team that will play in the 18 American division. She's a strong all-around player, who doubles up as a setter and right-side hitter and who built her game upon her solid technical skills. McConn is really productive on the backcourt, serving extremely well and playing very good defense at the right back position. When hitting at the net, she uses her vision and finesse to score and avoids unforced errors with great efficiency.</p>
