Redlands Rendezvous is one of the largest tournaments in the state. They hosted 335 teams and roughly over 3000 athletes this past weekend. It would be impossible to cover every single athlete. Let's take a look at some of the best players in the 16s Open division.

[player_tooltip player_id='740536' first='Maddy' last='Hammer'], Outside Hitter for TPV 16-1. What a name to have as an outside hitter in the game of volleyball. It is very fitting as she has some real power in her swing. Much of that power stems from her approach. She does a great job of starting slow and ending explosively. She is also a solid passer in the back row but that's not all she does back there. She is a real hitting threat from there as well. You have to keep tabs on her the whole match or her team could get on a roll.

Avery Jo McDonald, Setter for Ozark Juniors 16 Mizuno. She ran a well oiled machine that was her team's offense. I was impressed with her consistency and connection with her hitters when they were running up tempo. It didn't seem to matter if it was a middle or a pin, she was on point and gave them all sorts of opportunities to score. She was a huge help in finishing the tournament out with an 18-16 3rd set thriller over a solid Charge 15UA team and finish 3rd overall.

Peyton Williams, Outside Hitter for Charge 16 National. I wish I was able to see the stats from the tournament, as I am sure she had quite the stat line. She was an efficient hitter, coming from her control and range that she is able to attack. She will no doubt get better with this way above average "2's" team, especially led by the AVCA Coach of the Year award winner, James Ward. Keep an eye out this next school season, where she will be sure to make waves.

[player_tooltip player_id='534842' first='Sloane' last='Rattay'], Outside Hitter for Peak 15-1. Yes, only a freshman playing up in the 16s Open division. She was an absolute stand out for Stillwater High School this past season. She will continue to do big things this club season. She has an impressive touch point and can easily hit over the top of most blockers her age. She also possesses the ability to tool the block of more experienced players, such as in this weekend's competition. She already has a great feel and read of the game as she plays.

Marley Robbins, Middle Blocker for Charge 15UA. Marley is such a dynamic player. She keeps the blockers on their toes since she can hit a variety of sets. This will make her very marketable to colleges in the future. Her length and ability to press over the net makes her a headache for opposing hitters. When her ability to reach into gaps and read hitters better comes around, she will have a chance to be absolutely dominant at the net.

Redlands was just the tip of the iceberg for this club season. Tons of articles will begin to flow once we get into the heat of tournament season. Rankings are in the works for both 2026 and 2027 players. Make sure and get your free profile built and input into the database.
