As a former setter, I will always love watching amazing setters do their thing, and the Countdown City Classic was filled with just that. This two-day tournament showcased an extraordinary array of talent, making it a challenge to choose just a few to highlight among the sea of skilled players. Each match was a demonstration of precision, strategy, and artistry, captivating not only those of us who have played the position but also the audience as a whole. However, these three setters truly won me over this past weekend with their exceptional performances. Each of them brought a unique flair to their playstyle, making their presence felt on the court, and demonstrating not only their technical skills but also their tactical intelligence. It was a joy to watch them orchestrate the game, creating opportunities and setting their teammates up for success, while showcasing their individual strengths and personalities in every set.

Kendall really stood out to me because she is one of those players that throws caution to the wind, fully embracing the challenge that comes with the game. She is going to get her set by any means necessary, and it is always going to be clean and precise. I still remember the moment when I witnessed her slide on one knee and set a perfect ball with her hand; at that moment, I knew that she was going to be something special in the sport. Her technique is remarkable—every one of her sets is very clean, showcasing no spin at all, which adds an impressive level of control to her gameplay. Beyond her technical skills, she is also very smart with her setting choices, recognizing which angles and placements will benefit her teammates the most. Additionally, her discipline when it comes to playing defense is commendable. She has an innate ability to read the game, knowing the perfect time to release from defense to transition into setting, which allows her team to maintain momentum and capitalize on scoring opportunities. It's this combination of skill, intelligence, and assertiveness that truly highlights her potential as an exceptional player.

Adrienne is an extremely strong setter with an exceptional ability to command the game. She possesses remarkable power in her legs, leveraging all her strength to accurately place the ball exactly where she wants it. This not only showcases her physical prowess but also her keen understanding of the game dynamics. What sets Adrienne apart is her skill at setting against the flow of play; she has an uncanny ability to read the court and anticipate where her teammates will be. From deep right back, she can confidently set the ball all the way to the outside, delivering it with precision and timing that keep opponents guessing. Additionally, she masterfully executes back sets, transitioning smoothly from the left side of the court to the right, maintaining high accuracy even under pressure. Her consistency with ball placement is truly remarkable, as her hitters rarely have to adjust to the ball, allowing for fluid, uninterrupted plays. This combination of strength, skill, and strategic insight makes Adrienne an invaluable asset to her team, enhancing their overall performance and elevating their game to new heights.

The best way to describe watching DaMya is "WOW". She is truly an amazing athlete all-around. When I first watched her play, I was already impressed by how much of a great setter she was. She's very strong easily pushing her sets from one side of the court to the other. She has amazing body control, being able to get tight balls out of the net without contacting the net. DaMya also does a great job reading the blockers and changing her set based on their movements. This gives her hitter the opportunity to have a one-on-one or an open net to swing on. I can't forget to talk about her serve! She has an amazing a precise spot serve, getting several aces serving to open spots on the court. But all of those things are even the most impressive thing about her play. When DaMya enters the front row, she transforms from setter to middle blocker! Some would say those are the two hardest positions in volleyball, and DaMya is dominating in both. She also exudes great leadership skills as she is her teams captain.
