Powerful attackers are some of the most fun players to watch on the court. I am sure everyone has stopped and stared when you see a player go up and deliver a lethal attack that defenders didn't even get a chance to react to, let alone defend. The Siouxland Showdown showcased some big attackers on the weekend across all age groups and I found myself in awe at many of the ones listed below.

Wray is pivotal player for this River City team. She is one of those players that you need and want on the court at all times as she does so many things well. Wray is solid in serve receive and passing. She transitions quickly and can attack off the pass. She is terminal from the front row because she reads the block well, can find the seams, or will just go around the block. Wray also takes impressive swings from the back row.

Speed is the name of the game for Hahn. She moves quickly and efficiently all over the court. She had some impressive digs and tracked down several balls in great saves on the weekend when in middle back. Hahn is also a highly effective attacker. She used her speed to transition quickly and exploded to the pin. She has an impressive vertical and altered her shots between power and off speed to hit open court.

Ersland is one of those players that can and will do it all for her team. She delivered huge kills, had a great serve, was solid in serve receive and if that isn't enough, Ersland also set. While impressive that she can do so many things well, her attacking was one of the most exceptional in her age group this weekend. She has a quick approach, can hang in the air, read the block, and then either unload down the line or cross court.

Brandmeyer is ruthless and quite simply, hard to stop. I watched teams try to take her out of play by serving at her which they quickly found did not work. Brandmeyer cannot only pass, but she is quick, transitions swiftly, and made teams pay by hammering down the line or with her sharp cross off of the pass. Clearly a go-to attacker, Brandmeyer read the court well and racked up numerous points for her team.

It is a fail on our part that we haven't written on Bowers before today. This girl can play! If I had to pick one word to describe her, it would be “dynamic”. She plays with a fierce competitiveness that is not only fun to watch, but jaw dropping at the same time. Bowers does many things well, from serving to defense to serve receive. However, where she is most impressive is in her arm swing. She takes an explosive approach, has insane hang time, and unleashes with her quick arm that delivers lethal blows all over the court. Well, we see you Bowers and love what we see. We will definitely be keeping tabs on this player from here on out.

If I was going to give out a versatility award, it would go to LeBrun. I think she was probably the most versatile pin in the 15s division as she is equally terminal at both the right and left pin, attacking from both middle and right back, and playing both right and left back defense. What I especially liked about her is her consistency and ability to adjust. Yes, she takes big swings both in and out of system, but she also knows when to take a little off of it and keep the ball in the court. LeBrun is a smart player that I can't wait to keep tabs on as her game continues to grow and develop through the years.

Playing up in the 15s division, Vornbrock was an intricate part of the offense as her 14u team found their way into the championship final. Vornbrock moves quickly, has excellent court vision, and tends to use multiple techniques to score from the outside. She will take take powerful cross shots from the pin, but also reads the defense well. She will place many off speed shots to the corner and middle of the court frazzling defenses and helping generate wins for her team.
