Top Setters at the 18's Delta Region Qualifier.

The Delta Region Qualifier holds the top teams out of the region every year. Each year, teams battle for their bid at nationals at this qualifier. Setters are considered the "quarterbacks of volleyball" because they control the tempo of their offense and where the ball goes to. There were many great setters that competed in the 18's Delta Region Qualifier, but these are the setters that stood out and led their teams to victories over their opponents.    When it comes to being a leader on the court, that is Hannah Hardy. Whether in system or out of system, she found ways to keep the offense composed and running smooth. Hardy set mixed tempos to her hitters. Her sets to her outside were very consistent. She was impressive at switching up sets to speed them up or to slow them down leading the opposing team's blockers to go up to early or to late. This gave her hitters a great success rate at tooling to block or just hitting right over the block. Hardy's ball control was also especially well. Her decision making was very intelligent keeping the opposing defense guessing and her team in rhythm.     Wayna was great at reading the game, always ready for tips and covering the court with her quick reflexes. She gave her hitters well placed clean sets that maximized their potential to put the ball away. Her connection with her middle was close to perfection, which allowed for fast attacks. No ball was out of reach for her, proving herself to be a scrappy player as well as a great setter. Her defense made her a key asset, often turning broken plays into opportunities for her players to score. Her court vision raised the team's tempo and energy with every ball Wayna touched.     Traylor is truly a leader on her court. Traylor can set all 3 hitters from any spot on the court. Her ability to force the middles from passes off the net was really impressive. Running a 5-1 gives her the opportunity to be an aggressive front row setter. The opposing blockers would go up to block on tight passes expecting a setter dump, but Traylor's court awareness gave her hitters success. Drawing in the blockers to herself gave her hitters an open net to swing. [player_tooltip player_id='239275' first='Emerson' last='Traylor'] was also impressive defensively. She had an eye for watching the opposing hitters hand and elbow which helped her know exactly where that ball was going.     Martin is a dynamic setter playing up an age on Ozark Jrs 18 National. Anna Claire Martin ran a great bic out of the back row to her outsides. Reversing the flow of the sets made it difficult for the opposing teams to set their block up with their middles. Running a quick set to the outsides while also running the quick bic to the middle back set up great success for the Ozark juniors team. Martin was also aggressive at the service line adding many points to her team.     Carter is from Tennessee and plays on MJVA 18-1. She led her team to win the Delta Region Qualifier earning their bid to the Girls Junior National Championships. Carter had one of the highest volleyball IQ's I have seen. She set her hitters up for success with her fast tempo sets to the pins. Carter also had a great connection with her middles while also running a quick set behind her to the right sides. Carter was also an aggressive setter taking the opportunity to dump the ball when she saw an open court. Carter could set the ball from anywhere on the court.
