2025 Club Team Spotlights: IPVA 17 Black

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>While my memory isn't what it used to be, I can think clearly back to the beginning of January. It was then that I watched [program_tooltip program_id='429066' first='Iowa' last='Power Volleyball Alliance'] (IPVA) 17 Black at the Quad Cities Showdown. While it was very early in the club season, the squad looked scrappy with potential for greater success by building more chemistry and continuity. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>IPVA won its first two pool matches in the 17/18 division before running into Select Mizuno, one of the state's top 16U squads. IPVA competed well with everybody in a strong field, which included programs from Chicago, Wisconsin and elsewhere. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Having one of Iowa's best all-around athletes and volleyball players, [player_tooltip player_id='389942' first='Katie' last='Scheckel'], provides IPVA with a difference maker. The Pella standout is coming off of junior season when she named the Class 4A player of the year after leading the underdog Dutch to the championship match. She produced 458 assists, 364 kills and 394 digs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Elah Hiemstra played a key role in Pella's run at state. She picked up 197 digs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='448156' first='Kai' last='Arens'] landed on the all-state team after dishing out 713 assists for Bondurant-Farrar. She added 80 kills and 135 digs. Her Bluejay teammate, Nora Dodson, pounded out 304 kills and added 21.0 blocks in 2024. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ayla Richardson was a wall in the back row at Riverside, which reached the state semifinals, where it lost to eventual champion, Ankeny Christian. She earned second-team all-state laurels. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Aubree Shields paced Mount Ayr with 297 kills and 77.0 blocks, and ranked second in digs (287). She was named all-district for that performance. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Allison Stacy and <a href="https://sportsrecruits.com/athlete/ella_stetich2">Ella Stetich</a> are part of one of the state's top programs in Ankeny.
