Sometimes, the best talent isn't found on the biggest stage—it's uncovered in the heart of a smaller tournament. Today, I had the chance to take in the Border Battle in Fargo, North Dakota, and there was no shortage of standout players. From powerhouse teams out west to underclassmen stepping up, and even Minnesota teams crossing the river to compete in the 17/18's division, the competition was fierce.   When the brackets dropped, the teams locked in, and the battles began. Sometimes, all it takes is quietly observing from the stands to see who truly brings their game—on and off the court. Who was vocal? Who was on fire? Who was coachable? Who had people pausing their own agenda to watch them play?   Well, I have my list of players who caught my attention more than once today. Who made the cut? Let's dive in!    Keira made an impact from the start. Even in warmups, she was powering her hits, setting the tone for the day. She swings with force and confidence, consistently attacking through blocks. With her explosive vertical and aggressive approach, she kept eyes locked on her court. A true offensive threat, Keira is a player coaches need to watch.~Theresa @prepdigdakotas     Aspyn is a dynamic middle who commands attention. Her power at the net had players looking at each other in disbelief. She was unstoppable—running slides, executing quick 3's, and even attacking from the back row. With her impressive hang time and versatility, she's a matchup nightmare and a true offensive weapon. College coaches, take note—Aspyn is a force.~Theresa @prepdigdakotas     Shea's presence on the court is impossible to ignore. Even from across the gym, she stood out with her confidence and high-level play. Despite being a 2028, she competes like a seasoned veteran, handling the pace and intensity with ease. Her serve was one of the most dominant of the day—fast, controlled, and consistently putting opponents on their heels. In the back row, she was a defensive powerhouse, reading hitters, covering the court with speed, and delivering sharp, controlled passes. With her skill, composure, and natural competitive edge, Shea is a rising star that college coaches need to watch.~Theresa @prepdigdakotas     Jenna was a dominant force on the court, proving she's more than just a powerhouse at the net. While her front-row attacks were as strong as ever, it was her back-row game that took things to another level. She brought relentless power from behind the 10-foot line, delivering explosive attacks that left defenses scrambling. Her ability to transition seamlessly from front to back makes her an all-around offensive weapon.~Theresa @prepdigdakotas     Kendra had my full attention today. Yes, at only 5'4", she never backed down. Known for her back-row play, she surprised everyone by stepping up to the front row and attacking with unexpected power. Her powerful hits and high volleyball IQ had people stopping to watch. No matter where she was on the court, Kendra was hustling, making an impact. She was easily one of my favorite players of the day—her energy and determination were impossible to miss.~Theresa @prepdigdakotas     Mya was on fire today! Despite being a 2028, her hits were nothing short of exceptional, showcasing some of the best attacks of the day. Her powerful swings are impressive, but what truly sets her apart is her court awareness and volleyball IQ. Mya anticipates plays and positions herself with precision, making her a constant offensive and defensive threat. College coaches, take note—Mya is the type of player you dream of.~Theresa @prepdigdakotas     Bostynn proved today why she's ranked as the number 2 right-side hitter for her class. She showcased why right-side hitters are some of the best athletes on the court—dominating in blocking, covering, and attacking. Her powerful swings consistently put pressure on the defense, and her blocking presence was undeniable. Bostynn's ability to read the game and adjust in real-time makes her a dual threat—effective both offensively and defensively. She's versatile, athletic, and a leader on the court. Bostynn is the full package, and if she's not already on your radar, you're missing out. With her power at the net and her high volleyball IQ, she's a player every college coach should be watching closely.~Theresa @prepdigdakotas     Jersi was a relentless middle blocker, constantly working at the net and making an impact every play.
