High Scoring Hitters at the 501 Volley Invitational

Some of the best hitters in Arkansas and Oklahoma came to Cabot, Arkansas this weekend and put up an impressive amount of kills. These players made their presence known with their high volleyball IQ's, explosive approaches, high verticals, and strong arm swings. Mendenhall has the ability to see the block and call for sets that will beat the block. Mendenhall has a very high contact point and a very strong snap to her wrist. It is almost hard to believe she is only 15 when you see some of the hard driven swings she takes. Harris gave many teams struggles this weekend with her hard shots down the line. Many teams went rotational on Harris, but it was not enough to stop her hard driven swings. Harris played a really smart game at knowing when to take shots and when to rip the ball. You can count on almost any ball that is in system to go to Faulkner. Faulkner's height along with her vertical gives her the ability to swing over the block and creating chaos on the other side. Whether Faulkner goes thumb up or thumb down, Faulkner is pretty unstoppable. Mace can swing from 1's, push, and slides all really well. Her ability to find the court is top notch making her a very strong asset to her 501 team. Mace can also play pretty good back row for a middle blocker, laying out her body to get a ball up and make a play. Mace has a very tough float serve to defend giving her team a lot of points just from her serve. Insley had a very high hitting percentage this weekend making a point on almost every set she got. Insley has a very high volleyball IQ and uses that to push the ball over the right back and left backs heads to the deep corner. Insley can score on just about anything, whether that's an attack or a tip.
