One nice thing about being the lead scout for both Prep Dig and Prep Girls Hoops Kansas is I get to know several multi-sport prospects and watch them play more than one sport.

This past week during the Kansas State Basketball tournament there were multiple ranked volleyball players who excelled on the hardwood.

Here is a look at four ranked Prep Dig athletes who posted impressive numbers for their respective high school basketball squads.

Buscher is committed to Washburn University to play volleyball, but she had one of the best basketball performances this week. Spring Hill finished fourth in the class 5A state tournament. Buscher is one of two players in the entire state field who recorded double-doubles in all three tournament contests. She finished the tournament with 63 points scored and 39 total rebounds. She was a physical force in the paint. It would not surprise me if down the road she attempts to walk on to play basketball at Washburn as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='493419' first='Aliyah' last='Green'], 5'9”, MB, Derby, '25 (Butler CC)

Green recently committed to Butler Community College to play both volleyball and basketball. She helped lead Andover to a third-place finish in the Class 5A State Tournament. She scored 42 points and grabbed 42 rebounds in the three games in Emporia. She is a beast in the pain and dangerous in transition. She is a hard hitter who could start for the Grizzlies on both squads as a freshman.

[player_tooltip player_id='357544' first='Suttyn' last='Harris'], 5'11”, OH, Inman, '26 (Utah)

Harris is an early commitment to the University of Utah. She will play volleyball for the Utes, but she was super impressive in the Class 2A State Tournament in Manhattan. She was a force in the paint for the Teutons, who finished third in the tournament. Harris scored 49 points and grabbed 27 rebounds in the three games of the 2A Tournament. I am glad I have one more year of high school ball to watch her play before she heads out west.

[player_tooltip player_id='513606' first='Hailey' last='Schmidtlein'], 5'11”, MB, Hayden, ‘28

Schmidtlein is ranked No. 11 overall by Prep Girls Hoops and is ranked No. 1 overall in her class on Prep Dig Kansas. She is just a stud athlete. She scored 41 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the three games played in the Class 4A State Tournament. Hayden finished third in the tournament. Schmidtlein played in both the state basketball and volleyball tournaments. The experience she is gaining in just her freshman season will be priceless moving forward. I have a feeling this won't be her only season playing on the grand stages of the state tournaments.
