Day 1 of Madness at Miltown was an awesome day of volleyball. There were so many new faces from across the Midwest that impressed me. I was located at the Cedarburg location so this article covers the 16s-18s age divisions. Let's hop right in.    Maggie caught my eye because she is scrappy and dynamic. She balances being disciplined and reading the court very well. Maggie executed incredibly well in scramble plays and found creative ways to terminate and get the job done. Maggie could consistently manufacture points and was an offensive weapon her setters found often.     Macy was running the court efficiently. She utilized all of her hitters and spread her offense very well. Macy is an athlete who is focused and competitive on the court. She has honed in every aspect of her game and is a clear leader on the NSVBC U17 Select team, who has elevated their game every time I have seen them play.     Eliannie is an impact player for Reinas De La Cancha. She is a lefty right side, a consistent passer in serve receive, and a scrappy defender. Eliannie is a go-to hitter for Reinas De La Cancha, and her impact was felt often throughout their matches. Whether she was picking up balls in coverage, putting up a pass in serve receive, or taking swings, Eliannie touched the ball almost every play.     Ava was an impact player in all six rotations. Her back-row attack was powerful, consistent, and highly effective. She was a clear leader on her team and was nearly unstoppable. Ava was one of the most athletic pins at the tournament and was absolutely dominant. She was an absolute gamer, and seeing what she can do on day 2 with her SEV squad will be fun.     Jayse was a lethal offensive weapon on day 1. Her powerhouse line shot was nearly impossible to defend. Jayse is a lefty right side with great court vision and an aggressive mindset. She never backs down, puts up a consistent wall of a block, and has a positive impact on every point she is a part of.     Natalie was an absolute force. She set a 5-1 for Dunes. On day 1 of the tournament she ran the court like a seasoned pro. Natalie took several opportunities to be aggressive at the net, kept her middles involved every chance she got, and utilized the back-row attack. She is a smart and savvy setter with huge potential.     Lydia was so impressive throughout day 1. She closed the block consistently from pin to pin and shut down some of the top hitters in the tournament. She also transitioned well into offense and manufactured points for her team.     Ava is a right side who never stops when she is on the court. She is a go-to hitter and is relied upon to earn points. Ava is a vocal leader and energizer for her team and makes big plays in big moments. She is a solid blocker and never misses a beat on the court.     Ellie was an explosive and dominant pin. She could not be stopped. Her power and shot selection gave her a lot of control over the points she earned. Her offense and the impact it had cannot be downplayed - she was an absolute rockstar on day one.     Izzy was a huge talent in the middle. She put up a massive and consistent wall of a block, stopping hitters in their tracks. She also was engaged on offense and put down some powerhouse attacks. She wasn't afraid to swing different angles and made numerous momentum-changing plays throughout the day.
