Iowa 16U & 17U Club Season Stock-Risers

Here's another collection of talented players:    I watched Miller's team compete at the 2025 Windy City National Qualifier. She stood out right away as a six-rotation contributor capable of cranking out a kill or digging up the attack. Miller is playing on the United 16U second team, the club's top squad winning the regional. Miller's athleticism and quick-twitch traits allow her to cover a lot of the court and play at the pin despite not being as tall as other hitters. She shows good instincts and the ability to read the opponent when set up in the back row. It feels like Miller could be a breakout player this prep season for one of the state's top programs.     Whether it's high school or club, McFarland is a consistent contributor to successful teams. Agility and athleticism stand out has her top traits on the court. It allows McFarland to complete all of the tasks asked of her as a middle hitter/blocker. She's sound on the attack with power and quickness. McFarland has a good feel for the block in terms of reading the opponent and timing her leap. She can be overshadowed by her talented teammates at times, but McFarland is a good player in her own right.     Chandler possesses the tools necessary to play this game at the next level. It's a matter of sharpening her volleyball skills and gaining consistency. At her best, Chandler is a mashing right-side hitter with a hammer of a left arm. It's explosive athleticism with long limbs and an impressive vertical leap. She's already 5-11 with a good chance she grows seeing as father is 6-7. When I scouted Chandler at the 2025 Windy City National Qualifier, she also showed potential as an outside hitter and in her ability to defend at the net. Expect more development here with increased reps.     Whalen got my attention with her play for Marion at an early-season tournament last high school season. She still was working out some kinks in taking over as the Wolves' starter but by the end of the season she'd figured it out. She's carried over that consistency to the club campaign and is poised to take another step forward in the fall. Her 784 assists last season ranked 10th in Class 4A. Whalen has improved her attack and defense at the net.     The times I've watched Brown play in person, she's put forth a successful effort. At 5-9, Brown lacks the height of some other middle hitters. She makes up for it with outstanding leaping ability and a short, fast swing. Brown generates power and gets a good read on where the defense will be. She times her block well and alters a lot of attacks she doesn't get her hands on. Brown shows promise hitting at the opposite pin, too, which gives college coaches another option.     Weber is a really good athlete, which helps make her a successful volleyball player. While sometimes shorter than opponents, she wins against them with her explosiveness and leaping ability. Weber is physically strong with a powerful swing. She brings versatility to the table as well. Weber fits at middle hitter but also at each pin. That should be of interest to college coaches who'd be able to plug her in where needed at any given time.
