Another weekend of Great Plains Bid Tournament action is complete, and we have much to cover.

Sunday brought the 15s and 16s into the spotlight after the 17s and 18s battled for bids the week prior. We traveled to watch the 16s compete in the UBT Sports Complex while the 15s headed down to Lincoln. After a full slate of incredible battles and gripping drama, we can add to our Nebraska Bid Tracker.

Here's the full rundown on a stacked weekend of Bid Tournament chaos.

16s

As mentioned in the intro, we experienced the 16s tournament firsthand. Clear leaders quickly emerged.

The top seed in this age group was untouchable. Premier Nebraska 16 Gold wielded its wicked combination of ball control prowess and frontcourt firepower to win a division championship. The team pushed past AVC and Premier 16 Silver to reach the final bracket, and the wave of momentum never ceased. When 16 Gold finished bracket play, the team had not dropped a set and locked up the 16 National bid from the Great Plains Region. Next week's Show Me Qualifier will bring 16 Gold back to the crucible of Open-level competition.

Chaos reigned below the division champs. Pool play was routine with top seeds running the show, but bracket play ratcheted up the pressure.

Premier Nebraska 16 Black clinched its bracket spot with sweeps over South Central NE and Banzai VBC. Another top seed, [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 16 Black, withstood a stiff test from Premier 16 Red to go 2-0 in Pool 3.

The lone 2-seed to win its pool was [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] 16 Black in Pool 4. 16 Black won the 4-versus-5 showdown with Kearney Elite to claim the final No. 1 pool finish and open a path to a bid.

Let's get back to that [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 16 Black group. This team had high expectations coming into 2025 after a new influx of talent, forming a cohesive unit of Lincoln-area stars. 16 Black capitalized in bracket play by storming past Kearney Elite and scoring an upset win over second-seeded Premier Nebraska 16 Black to reach the finals. A runner-up finish locked up the team's 16 American bid.

So, we venture to the third-place match. The aforementioned Premier 16 Black pivoted toward this bid-deciding match, and VCNebraska 16 Black joined the club after falling to Premier 16 Gold.

Cue the drama. In a clash to determine the final 16 Freedom bid, Premier Nebraska and VCNebraska went back and forth in a three-set thriller. VCNebraska 16 Black, a top performer from NLQ's 16 Liberty division, won a 16-14 tiebreaker to earn third place and complete an improbable bid tournament run.

15s

Similar storylines dominate the 15s bid tournament. Top seeds held firm in pool play, leading to some wild clashes in the final bracket.

This is where we'll hone in on the age group's "co-favorites:" Premier Nebraska 15 Gold and VCNebraska 15 Elite. Both squads rolled through opening pools without dropping a set and looked primed to secure a bid. 15 Elite had a little extra work to do in a crossover bracket, but a win over Club Legacy kept the momentum going.

In fact, all four of the top 15s seeds swept through the first round of pools. This includes Premier Nebraska 15 Black and VCNebraska 15 Black, adding to the 15s prevalence of these two clubs.

We ended up with this quartet in the bracket semifinals. Two Premier-VCN showdowns ensued, and we fittingly got a split decision. We were back to our co-favorites at the top with 15 Gold and 15 Elite securing bids with a berth in the championship match.

VCNebraska 15 Elite had a unique agenda at this tournament. The team already secured a 15 USA bid through the Northern Lights Qualifier but could climb one level further with a championship effort at the GPR Bid Tournament. That's exactly what 15 Elite accomplished, giving this stacked group a 15 National berth at GJNC. Premier Nebraska 15 Gold claimed the 15 American bid with its second-place finish.

We're left with the other half of the Premier-VCN pod to determine the 15 Freedom bid. This one went to VCNebraska 15 Black after a hotly contested two-set match. Bank another Freedom bid for the Lincoln club.
