Nebraska Rankings Updates Inbound--What to Watch For

It's about that time.   Finally, we can refresh our Nebraska rankings and watch lists. It feels overdue, but we also didn't want to take away from our in-season coverage during a busy period of the club season. Now that we've reached a natural pause in the calendar, the new rankings are about to roll out.   We plan on making this one of our biggest releases ever. Such an overhaul deserves its own "preview" on some of the trends and storylines to look for as we move through each class. Speaking of classes, here's the breakdown on our release schedule:   2026 -- April 28   2027 -- May 5   2028 -- May 12   Now, let's run through some important notes on this upcoming wave of changes.     Still Movement Among the 2026s   It's never too late to shake things up.   The Class of 2026 is approaching its final year on the prep stage. It might be easy to assume that this list is set in stone, but the ongoing club season is still changing our perspective. Stock risers will still be a theme of the new 2026 release.   This class is still stacked with uncommitted stars eager to make an impact at the next level. Our 2026 rankings coverage becomes even more important as we look to highlight many of these hidden gems. We'll also have a handful of names joining the database after making a big impression on the 17s scene.   Then, we're steamrolling toward senior year.     Unprecedented Additions   Prepare for a head-spinning number of new additions--particularly among the 2027s and 2028s.   This year's club season has taught us a lot. The spring campaign is always an opportunity to see athletes who are awaiting their chance to shine on the varsity high school stage. In other words, underclassmen are a mystery. Club volleyball fills in the gaps.   We might be heading toward our biggest player database overhaul ever. The 2027s and 2028s could see nearly 100 new players each. It's an enormous task to put all these changes together, but it's always worth bringing a more comprehensive look at Nebraska's future stars.   Buckle up for this one.     Ranked 2028 List?   To rank, or not to rank?   <figure class="wp-block-image alignright size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2024/07/Emma-Ammon.jpg?w=1017" alt="" class="wp-image-576668" style="width:335px;height:auto" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">We're already looking forward to discovering new talent through this summer's showcases.</figcaption></figure>   This is roughly the same time in last year's cycle that we released the first Class of 2027 rankings. That list was a small, preliminary group of 25 athletes who had distinguished themselves early in their prep careers. We weren't caught up in the order as much, and the list has evolved dramatically since then.   We're anticipating a similar progression for the 2028s. We can't fully guarantee a ranked list for this upcoming list, but we have a solid group of names in mind. Another Top 25 could be in the works.   Of course, this would come with the caveat that we still have a lot of time left with the Class of 2028.   The Road Ahead   Even as these new releases trickle in, we're always looking toward the next step to bolster the rankings even further.   The postseason club stretch will be here before we know it. AAU Nationals and USAV Nationals will provide even more perspective on Nebraska's top emerging talent. Big stages produce big performances.   Soon after, it's showcase season. We have lofty goals for our <a href="https://events.prepdig.com/e/1530/register/nebraska-freshman-showcase">Nebraska Freshman Showcase</a> and <a href="https://events.prepdig.com/e/1517/register/nebraska-stock-up-showcase">Nebraska Stock Up Showcase</a> in late July. Could we get at least 100 athletes at each event? We'll campaign hard for it. This time of year will have us anxious to get back in the coverage groove, and we hope you'll join us for a little pre-fall volleyball.
