Volleyball fans love it when they see an attacker go up and take a big swing on a ball that leads to a point. It is especially impressive when the attacks come from younger, talent players that are leaps and bounds ahead of others. The following are some attackers that caught my eye for one reason or another while watch the 15s bracket at Madness in Miltown. Perhaps it was because they are new to me, or are those that I have seen before that showed improvement, or are just simply studs that I couldn't take my eyes off…again.

If I had to pick one middle out of all the 15u athletes at the tournament to display how to hit a gap ball this past weekend, it would be Snodgrass. Connecting with her setter, Snodgrass moved efficiently and effectively to hit tempo gap kills that were fantastic to watch. In addition to her attacking, Snodgrass was highly effective in blocking as well. Her movements, timing, and overall game growth has been impressive over the season.

It's not a secret that I am a huge Wirkus fan…and with good reason. This girls is something special. Every time I see her play, I am amazed at the growth she has shown in her skills, the range of her game, and the sheer grit she showcases on the court. Relentless as ever, Wirkus did a fantastic job reading the block in front of her. She found the seam, went around the block, and when finesse was needed, this girl showcased her range and put on a show throwing down some incredible, well disguised rolls and tips. Keep it up Wirkus.

Krestschmer is a new name to jump on my radar. I watched her play a few times this past weekend and was impressed with her ability to attack just about every ball sent her way. Her connection with out of system balls was especially impressive. Her timing, mechanics, and power on them generated several kills. Kretschmer is one to keep tabs on as I believe she is just getting started and her growth will be tremendous.

Dietrich had a solid weekend swinging from the pins. Some of Brenna strengths that were on display this past weekend as an attacker are that she has excellent control, makes good attack choices, and makes very few errors. She also is quick and thus can effectively transition off the net or the pass to be an effective hitting option on every play.

Roberson is a young, 6 rotation outside that worked hard on both offense and defense. She took big swings at the net and was a go-to attacker for the her team. Her defense was especially solid. She was super quick, had good reactions, and hustled everywhere on the court. She especially played excellent off blocker defense.

Zmudzinski is an outside hitter that can put some serious zip on her attacks. She has an explosive approach and quick arm swing. Zmudzinski used her speed, power, and vertical to go up and over the block to deliver some huge cross court shots that were not only impressive, but lethal.

I have seen Hartman play a number of times and while she has always been a fantastic attacker, I was really impressed with explosiveness and power behind her shots this weekend. Hartman's line shot and backrow attacks were probably the best shots of the tournament, especially in the championship game. To summarize her play, Hartman was quite simply too much for some teams to handle this past weekend.
