Show Me Qualifier: Hard-Nosed Liberos from Texas

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>BID season continues at full pace and, with the USAV Girls Junior National Championship just over two months away, club volleyball teams from Texas continue to add significant mileage to their loyalty cards as they travel around the country to compete in National Qualifiers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This weekend, the destination for many of them will be Kansas City, where one of the most popular events of the club season, the Show Me Qualifier, is set to take place from Saturday to Monday.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Over 750 teams from all over the country are set to compete across the ten divisions in the 15s, 16s, and 17s age groups, and among them are several Texas teams. These squads count on some of the most talented prospects in the Lone Star State, and we're taking the week to feature a few of them. An extremely technical and agile player, she's always ready to come up with big defensive plays for them, demanding a lot of effort from opponents to put the ball down and generating transition opportunities for her team. Keenan does a very good job of remaining focused and performing her defensive actions in the right way, even during rallies. She's a defensive machine, who consistently shows up at the right spots to make plays and has the reflexes and the ball control needed to handle anything that goes her way. Huynh is also an elite passer, who has incredible spatial awareness, covers a lot of ground and is always very confident to make contact with the ball. She's been splitting time between the libero and defensive specialists positions and, whichever role she plays, she delivers excellent production on the back row. She's taller than the average libero and those extra inches allow her to cover more ground on the back row. Bates is very disciplined with her serve-receive actions, keeping her body shape consistent to deliver accurate passes. She joined the club this year, coming from TAV, and is having an excellent season as their starting libero despite playing one age group up. Roland has excellent technical skills and is one of those liberos who are willing to do whatever it takes to keep the ball off the floor. She's extremely agile and athletic and that helps her to get to tips and deflected shots.
