This massive two-day tournament is a perfect preview for those teams that are (1) heading to GJNCs in Dallas, (2) continuing their seasons at AAUs in Orlando, or (3) finishing their respective club seasons playing some of the best the midwest has to offer before school is out. Here are three teams with three athletes each that look to turn heads in the recruiting department before their senior seasons begin.

The 2s team for the hybrid 17/18 teams at COA feature a ton of midsized talent from around western Indiana and eastern Illinois. Of the kids from Indiana, I'm highest on [player_tooltip player_id='488299' first='Brinley' last='Deakins'], the libero for this bunch. A Northview product, Brinley is calm, cool and collected wearing the special jersey for this roster, and is seemingly always in the right spot at the right time when on defense. Ask her to pass half the court in serve receive, and she can, with space to spare. [player_tooltip player_id='781254' first='Avalyn' last='Gulley'] is a springy and terminal pin attacker that makes up for her smaller stature with athleticism and jumping ability. I like her ability to terminate from anywhere, front or back row, or either pin. She's also serviceable in serve receive and on defense, meaning you don't have to get an extra kid to do what Miss Gulley already has in her arsenal. Finally, Kylie Marrs is similar to Avalyn in that any shot can be hit at any time. The difference? Her size allows her to go over blocks from time to time, and uses that vision to terminate with precision instead of brute force. I'd like to see a faster arm swing from Miss Marrs, but that high attack point is hard to deny.

Rev 17-2 Phoenix

Another collection of unsung athletes from around central Indiana dot this roster. I'm especially fond of [player_tooltip player_id='744640' first='Emersyn' last='Allen'], who can get her head above the net on her attack at a height of 5'7". Used as a quick-hitting middle for this roster, I can easily see her as a fast-offense right side or outside for three rotations, as that athleticism of hers cannot be understated. She's hyper fast with her footwork in the middle, and excels when setters set her high enough to terminate. [player_tooltip player_id='745984' first='London' last='Murray'] is another hybrid athlete on this roster, but mostly in the defensive and setting areas. On serve receive, she's quick with her feet and calm with her platform. As a setter, she has high and strong hands that can put a ball on target with ease. In short, she can do a little of everything defensively and setting, and would fit in nicely in a program that needs both. [player_tooltip player_id='238119' first='Jordin' last='Golden'] is a rare glimpse at size on this roster. Long and lean for days, Miss Golden can go over any block thrown at her, as her arms are deceptively longer than her 5'10" frame might otherwise indicate.

A lot of the kids on this roster can easily play for a 1s team elsewhere around the city. Take [player_tooltip player_id='301140' first='Adriana' last='Williams'] for instance. She's a heavy-hitting outside that can hit any angle with pace and accuracy at any time in any situation. The strength she brings on her approach and her attack is not something normally seen on a "2s" team. [player_tooltip player_id='479084' first='Olivia' last='Robbins'] is a solid three-rotation option on either pin, even though the majority of her play that I've seen have been on the right pin. I like her ability to hit multiple angles regardless of where the ball is set. [player_tooltip player_id='366449' first='Leah' last='Kay'] is a nice "have to have" in the middle, and is a good choice to be an M2 at the next level. Springy, quick and terminal, Leah will excel at the next level with a setter that sets zero tempo balls consistently.
