It may only be June but high school programs are beginning their summer leagues and preparing for team camps. Let's take a look at who we think will be 6-10 in class 6A this upcoming season. For context, A few assumptions: There is no shift in teams that we don't already know about, there are no transfers that we don't already know about and that we keep the same playoff format. Also, these are just our guesses on how the season pans out. We will happily be proven wrong or proven right depending on how your season pans out.

10- Duncan

Last season Duncan had a great run last season where they finished 31-7 on the season. They started the season on fire, winning their first 18 in a row. In that stretch they racked up multiple top 15 wins and two tournament titles. Their first loss came to Lawton Mac in a 5 set barn burner that finished 14-16. They were led by a very talented and deep senior class. Headlining that group was All State selection, Amiya Williams. She was fun to watch. Her sheer athleticism was something that would catch your eye immediately. The other seniors listed were Emme Marks, Janaiya Newberry, Kierney Holthaus, Aaliyah Treat, Kynzie Sherrill, Vivienne Albin, and [player_tooltip player_id='757028' first='Makiyah' last='Skinner']. They will need new players to step up in a hurry down south. Players like [player_tooltip player_id='757042' first='Makynna' last='Skinner'] and [player_tooltip player_id='757030' first='Pinky' last='Greening'] will be looked to carry the torch for the Demons. Due to a big senior class and the departure of their head coach they have dropped to 10th. I believe they still can be a top 10 team in 5A and make it an interesting regional championship.

9- Lawton Mac

A roller coaster of a season for the Highlanders. They played a really tough schedule all season long. 8 of their first 10 matches were against ranked opponents and it didn't get much easier from there. This program is a year ahead of what Duncan is facing now. Head coach John Song entered his second season at the helm and they went 16-11. Yes, losing a player like Lynix Stevenson in the middle will not be fun. Hitters like [player_tooltip player_id='737518' first='Brianni' last='Kimbro'] and [player_tooltip player_id='746897' first='Ellana' last='Burk'] could be players to step up big this season. Mix in [player_tooltip player_id='746898' first='Allie' last='Gordon'] in the back row, [player_tooltip player_id='746899' first='Danika' last='Bridges'] [player_tooltip player_id='740047' first='Bethany' last='WhiteEagle'] and Giana Roig in the front to round out a solid core to work with this season. They will likely still have a tough schedule but it will be to their benefit as they become battle tested come play off time. Them and Carl Albert will duke it out multiple times again and that will be matchups you won't want to miss.

8-Collinsville

They are coming off a solid 20-13 season where they finished just outside the top 10. They had a tough regional draw all the way to Duncan. They fought hard but came up just one match short of state. Behind top returners like [player_tooltip player_id='742725' first='Ellah' last='Burton'] and Jennah Christian they will take a step forward and make a real interesting case to be top 10 AND possibly host a regional this season. If they can stay home this time around and host a regional, they will be in a much better position. They will be a hungry team to get this accomplished and someone to watch out for.

7- Carl Albert

Carl Albert is another one of those teams that have a solid schedule from top to bottom. Finished as the #7 seed at state by getting the final matchup against Lawton Mac in their regional. They then had a first round loss to the back to back state runner ups, the brutally tough BTW Hornets and Ari Brown. Head coach, Tabitha Miller, will now have a couple seasons under her belt as head coach and will look to reload. They lost a solid group in Kailey Stuart, Eden Schroeder and Kristin Stoeser, which was a big part of their offensive production but they have a deep crew to work with. They maintain one of the best defensive players in the state with [player_tooltip player_id='750953' first='Caitlyn' last='Mabie']. She will cover a ton of ground in SR and fluster hitters with some show stopping digs. The question mark will be their offense but they had a good JV last year and will look to reload rather than rebuild this year.

6- Sapulpa

Don't let the 12-20 record fool you from last season. They play in the 6A Frontier Valley power conference with the likes of Jenks, Owasso and Broken Arrow. They also don't play the easiest tournament schedule in Coweta's and Claremore's. The regional final was the place to be that night with a thrilling 13-15 5th set. Ella Ord, [player_tooltip player_id='746423' first='Hayden' last='Humphrey'] and Abby Admire all return for another go. Likely two of which will play middle and the other as a right side hitter. Hayden led that match with 15 kills for the Chieftains. They also return both setters in [player_tooltip player_id='739257' first='Aubrey' last='Mathias'] and Kayla Moody. The question mark here will be replacing Bella Dennis and Brooklyn Kuster in the back row. In that regional final, those two accounted for 44 of the 46 perfect passes in SR and over half of the team's digs for the match. They do have some young talent in [player_tooltip player_id='774413' first='Adrian' last='Hawley'], Madisyn Greenfeather and Kayliana Hatfield that could be playmakers this time around. They will be more well rounded this season and look to get back to hosting a regional.

Good luck to all the high school programs and players out there as we start up another amazing season here in Oklahoma.
