Legacy had quite a run at the 2025 AAU National Championships in Orlando.

One Open title would be an accomplishment, but the Michigan-based program collected three over the entirety of the event, getting the club to 10 Open national championships in its history.

Here's a look at what players led the way to the titles.

Legacy 16-1 ADIDAS: 16 Open Champs

After winning the 15 Open title in 2024, the majority of this team returned to defend its title in 2025 and managed to come through. The squad went a perfect 12-0 over four days of play, dropping only one set throughout the tournament. It put away the championship against Northern Lights 16-1 with a 26-24, 25-12 victory.

The title capped off a big week of announcements from Legacy's All-Americans. Setter [player_tooltip player_id='442995' first='Marlie' last='Smith'] was named MVP with her outstanding play after she recently committed to the University of North Carolina. Smith was joined by outside [player_tooltip player_id='442987' first='Kate' last='Kalczynski'] and libero [player_tooltip player_id='442967' first='Addison' last='Stepp'] as All-Americans. Kalczynski recently committed to Ohio State, while Stepp just gave her commitment to the University of Alabama. All three have shined on the national stage before, but their continued development and composure puts them amongst the best of the best in the entire Class of 2027.

Legacy 14-1 ADIDAS: 14 Open Champs

Already having established itself as one of the best in the country, Legacy 14-1 ADIDAS lived up to those expectations by going 12-0 in Orlando to win the national title. Like its 16-1 ADIDAS peers, this group also just dropped a single set throughout the event, which came in the semifinal against OT 14, a 22-25 loss in the second set. Legacy bounced back with a 15-8 win in the third set, then topped Top Select 14 Elite in the final by scores of 25-23, 25-16.

It was no surprise to see outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='587564' first='Lexi' last='Coleman'] take home MVP odds. As we touched on previously, looking at this entire dynamic roster, Coleman is a 6-foot outside that has a limitless ceiling to where she can take her play. Libero [player_tooltip player_id='757121' first='Stella' last='Smith'] and setter [player_tooltip player_id='709559' first='Kaelyn' last='Easton'] were also named All-Americans. Both have excelled at their positions and all three of these talents look ready to make a name for themselves at the high school level in 2025.

If one title in the age group wasn't enough, Legacy 14-3 ADIDAS brought home the 14 Aspire national championship with a 13-0 record, not dropping a set. Reagan Cooper was named MVP while Quinn Lungrun and Presley Heiden earned All-American honors.

Legacy 13-1 ADIDAS: 13 Open Champs

The Class of 2030 isn't going to get looked at too closely for another year, but you can't ignore this group for winning the 13 Open national title in Orlando. Legacy dropped one match during pool play, but responded with eight straight wins to take the title. It only allowed one opponent (FaR Out) to get to 20 points in a set during the gold bracket.

Hitter Layla Ljajcaj was named MVP, while defender Mikayla Sinadinoski and hitter Cate Verkeyn each were named to the All-American team. Expect more big things from these three in the years ahead.

FaR Out shines as well

If not for Legacy's titles, FaR Out would be garnering the headlines in Michigan. The Grand-Rapids based club had an outstanding tournament as well.

17 J: Runner-up 17 Open

17 J is a squad featuring non-2025 kids that were on FaR Out 18 Black playing alongside some fellow 2026 talents from Munciana. The group lost three times, including twice to the eventual champion, but picked up a nice win over Legacy 17-1 ADIDAS in the semifinal in three sets. All-Americans from the squad were libero [player_tooltip player_id='454351' first='Mallory' last='Johnson'], outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='226882' first='Karis' last='Chatfield'], and Carsyn Comer, a middle from Indiana.
