The Eastern Midlands Conference has one of the best conferences for Class B volleyball. Schools in this conference are historically good with great tradition and the newer schools like Gretna East, Lincoln Northwest and Standing Bear are building on the volleyball culture. Five of the eight schools in the Class B tournament were from the EMC. Norris took down nine time defending State Champion Omaha Skutt Catholic to hoist the gold trophy. Let's take a look at some fresh faces entering the storied conference.

Let's start out with Standing Bear's [player_tooltip player_id='847022' first='Rawley' last='Olson']. The 5'7” outside is athletic and has a great reach on top of the ball. She is also springy and can jump out of the gym. Olson takes great cut shots and does a phenomenal job of staying behind the ball giving her several different shots. She plays bigger than 5'7” because of her high contact point. WIth that advantage she can tool off blockers or hit the roll shot or tip to the donut at the last second. Keep an eye on her on the opposite pin too!

[player_tooltip player_id='847021' first='Tinley' last='Olson'] is another Standing Bear freshman who stands at 5'11” with a big lefty swing. She is lengthy and is strong on the defensive side blocking or digging. She excelled during digging drills and did a great job of digging the middle of the court. Olson has a high volleyball IQ as well. Her swing is hard to read and as she continues to grow and develop she will be force on the opposite pin. She is listed as a middle as well on Hudl during club play for Nebraska Juniors 14-1. Her versatility could prove helpful for the Grizzlies.

Big heavy arm and great reach describes Gretna's 5 '11 " Kenli Donner. The outside/middle does a great job of finding the ball and making plays whether it is a sneaky swipe off the black or sneaky deep roll shot or tip; she can make plays with her physicality and IQ. She also runs the quick middle efficiently and closes well. She played middle for Premier 14 Gold this past club season. As she progresses, look for her to be a force for the Dragons!

[player_tooltip player_id='846878' first='Maci' last='Falcone'] is a 6'0” setter for Gretna East. Falcone played club volleyball for Nebraska Elite 14 Koa this past season. Falcone makes setting look so effortless with her soft hands and elite ball placement. Her long levers make her a strong blocker and she moves so well. Her setter dumps are smart and sneaky. Overall a really strong setter with a high ceiling! Keep tabs on this Griffin!

The freshman class at Norris is a strong group of players that will push the State Champions this upcoming season and make for a competitive gym. 5 '8 " setter [player_tooltip player_id='838311' first='Karsyn' last='Vejraska'], who plays up an age level for VCN 15 Elite is a strong setter. She has great hands and strong wrists and her body control and ball placement is incredible. Her volleyball IQ is high and distributes well across the net. Vejraska particularly excels in an out of system situation ball and can set the pin from deep in zone one. Another strength is her serve and ability to get on runs!

Another Titan and 15 Elite product with a high ceiling is libero/defensive specialist [player_tooltip player_id='775339' first='Makinley' last='Ramsey']. The 5'2” defensive player does a great job of talking on the court and has great hands and a niche for setting/bump setting out of system balls. She is quick and gets a hand and under a lot of balls. Ramsey also reads hitters well too. When playing left back defense she does a great job of digging high balls to the well. Keep her on your radar!

That wraps up the EMC freshman who participated in the showcase! Lots of excitement and eyes will be on this loaded conference with upcoming talent!
