Pre-Season Sneak Peek: AA County’s Best Players

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>High School season is upon us again. Many schools are running camps or pre-tryout workouts; Maryland is no different, with most locations having tryouts in two weeks. I will have a more in-depth county-specific preview closer to rosters being set, but until then, here are a couple star players to watch this season. She may be the best Middle in Anne Arundel County, which will see her make a run with Severn Run this season. A very athletic big, she could probably play RS and use her blocking skills to help shut down high level OH, but in HS where 6'3 players aren't as common as club season, she will be manning the middle, where her offense is quickly catching up to her defense and she will create matchup problems for teams all year. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["721753"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-6887b1d778e83"} --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Kennedy may be the best OH in AA County, she has tremendous vertical, long arms and a lot of power. It helps that she's being fed by two of the best setters in the state, but when she gets in a groove, sometimes there really is no answer for her. She constantly makes highlight reel digs, and is always hustling. She's paired with another good DS at Arundel, [player_tooltip player_id='809363' first='Bailey' last='Swinton'], but the defense Kadey brings to the table could have a lot of impact on Arundel's success this year. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["545726"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-6887b1d778f81"} --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">Coming into her sophomore year, Miley is looking to make an even larger impact this year than she did as a standout freshman. Her long arms and smart placement make her a risk every time she's out there, and she will be a focal point of Crofton's offense. After spending the year playing at MDJRS, she has refined techniques, and improved much in one year and should be one of the top pin hitters in the county. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["478903"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"preview","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-6887b1d778ffc"} --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">This was a tough call, as her partner in the 6-2 system they run is also a fantastic setter, but I'm going with Barrett here to give her a little extra love after finishing 2nd in the country at nationals. Obviously any setter at that level is something special, and Broadneck is blessed with a luxury most clubs don't even get, having two setters at that level. This is part of why Broadneck is the team to beat in the county, and is looking to make another big run this year. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This was just spreading around some of the top players at each position, but there's much more to come on these players, their teammates, and which teams are favorites to win it all this year.
