There are teams that you know will always be in the hunt, its part of their program. However, who are the teams who could be on the rise? Who do others need to be on the look out for? Here are some teams that have had some success, but could break into some new territory in the 2025 season.

Brookfield East

Brookfield East suffered a huge blow when Princeton commit [player_tooltip player_id='221048' first='Natalie' last='Surges'] went down with an injury this offseason, but there is a cupboard full of all around athletes who are ready to step in to big roles for the 2025 season. They return all of their top attackers led by [player_tooltip player_id='809936' first='Maggie' last='Czajka'], [player_tooltip player_id='828132' first='Addison' last='Dooyema'], and [player_tooltip player_id='807844' first='Amelia' last='Olson'] who all had over 100 kills in 2024. They will also return one of the top liberos in the Milwaukee Metro in [player_tooltip player_id='435878' first='Amorina' last='Compean-Costello'] who let the Spartans with nearly 400 digs and had a big club season for VC United 161 Elite out of Rockford. All teams in this area face a challenging schedule week in and week out, but this team could be one that could turn some heads this fall.

Muskego

Throughout the club season when I would look up high schools of athletes I was covering, Muskego was one that kept popping up. They will look to senior leader Sami Hockers who has given her verbal commitment to play for Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. She can do a little bit of everything where she had nearly 200 kills, 236 assists, and over 100 digs. They will also return attackers [player_tooltip player_id='807858' first='Autumn' last='Wohler'], [player_tooltip player_id='435901' first='Piper' last='Graham'], and [player_tooltip player_id='827908' first='Tatum' last='Meinen']. They will also return one of their top defensive players in [player_tooltip player_id='522313' first='Ellie' last='Vantholen'] as well.

Fond Du Lac

This program has been building for a big season the past couple of years. The FVA is loaded once again and Fondy is going to be a name to know this 2025 season. They return plenty of point scoring and athletes who are all around players who can be utilized in different ways. Ellisyn Schultis headlines this group where she had a big club season for [program_tooltip program_id='428591' first='FC' last='Elite'] 16 Navy. The six rotation outside hitter had over 350 kills as a sophomore and will be one who can score points from all over in 2025. Another Schultis to know is Mackenna Schultis. She spent most of the high school season as setter, but she can swing and score points on her own as well.

West De Pere

The Phantoms made their mark on the Bay Conference in 2024, finishing 6-1 and had over 30 wins overall. This year they will move to the Fox River Classic Conference and return one of the top attackers in the Class of 2027 in Wisconsin. [player_tooltip player_id='564276' first='Lauren' last='Tisler'] recently committed to Boston College this past summer after a huge sophomore year where she tallied just under 400 kills. WDP will also return their top setter and defender with [player_tooltip player_id='522289' first='Lauren' last='Verboort'] bringing back just under 900 assists and libero [player_tooltip player_id='522295' first='Adrienne' last='Schmidt'] having over 350 digs and is on track to break 1000 career digs as well.

Mount Horeb

Mount Horeb lost some pieces from a squad that collected 30 wins in 2024, but there are still some key pieces returning. They have some really dynamic attackers who know how to score points. [player_tooltip player_id='845435' first='Ella' last='Kahl'] and [player_tooltip player_id='487010' first='Finley' last='Moore'] combined for over 300 kills in 2024 where I can see them having a huge senior season. Moore led the team with 67 blocks as well. A really talented setter who makes things happen for her side of the net is [player_tooltip player_id='376267' first='Laila' last='Rasmussen']. She is well over 1,000 assists in her career and has always managed to score points herself as well. She has committed to Edgewood in Madison.

Oostburg

There is never a shortage of athletes when it comes to Oostburg where they won a state basketball crown and have played on the big stage at state soccer as well. They have plenty of athletes coming back from their 19-11 squad with their top three attackers back in [player_tooltip player_id='523027' first='Macy' last='Bruggink'], Kinsley Ketterhagen, and [player_tooltip player_id='523028' first='Brooklyn' last='Hoffmann']. They will also add a top attacker from the Class of 2028 in [player_tooltip player_id='827859' first='Soraya' last='Benton']. The rising sophomore has a hammer for an arm and brings plenty of athleticism and physicality to front line, making Oostburg a team to watch in D3.

Mosinee

I'm pretty high on this Mosinee team where they have found ways to win all summer and have always been a traditional power in [program_tooltip program_id='428569' first='Central' last='Wisconsin']. [player_tooltip player_id='435884' first='Bridget' last='Frye'] is one of the top kill leaders returning in all of D2 and still has two more seasons left. They also return [player_tooltip player_id='510445' first='Olivia' last='Schroeder'] as well who can put points and blocks on the board. A welcome addition to this team with be [player_tooltip player_id='545529' first='Pacyn' last='Stoffel'] who is a highly touted Class of 2029 outside hitter who could make an instant impact for Mosinee.

SPASH

Stevens Point seems to be quietly improving each season and 2025 could be their best one they've had in a while. They were 27-11 a year ago and return some key pieces ot their squad. [player_tooltip player_id='522106' first='Nora' last='Kruger'] was the upstart freshman who did a lot of the Panthers where she had 327 kills and 278 digs as a six rotation outside hitter. Rising senior [player_tooltip player_id='249657' first='Karli' last='Torhorst'] had a breakout junior campaign in 2024 where she had nearly 200 kills and over 200 blocks. They will be heading to the Beast of the Northeast opening weekend to take on some of the top teams in the state.
