Five Defensive Maestros From Freshman Showcase

The Prep Dig Freshman Showcase was a highly anticipated event for our scouts to see some of the most promising young volleyball talent from across the state and a few others. While powerful attackers and dominant blockers often grab the headlines, the true unsung heroes of the court are the liberos, who keep rallies alive with their incredible defensive plays and relentless pursuit of every ball. This showcase unveiled a group of freshmen liberos who activated their beast mode from the start. Their fearless play and exceptional court coverage left our scouts excited for the future. Let's dive into the highlights of five defensive dynamos who are poised to become future stars.    Drinkall was consistent in keeping space between her platform and her body, and she was always communicating with those around her. She does a great job cushioning a hard-driven serve to keep it on her side of the net. She does a nice job anticipating the hitters by watching their tendencies and putting herself in a great position to make a play on the ball. Corey sees the court well and talks her teammates through the play.     McLagan contributes a wicked lefty serve from the endline. She also does a great job of getting under a ball and creating the best angle with her platform. She also does not shy away from passing the balls that come screaming towards the seams. Aday also does a great job in holding her platform strong and angled at her target. She also isn't afraid of using her hands if needed, and she fights through tracking the deep float.     Reinhardt could be a strong defensive backbone for her high school squad. She is consistent in her passing and precise in location. Reinhardt is capable of handling powerful serves and delivering the pass to keep her team in system.
