Class 6A Championship Preview: Alpharetta vs. Walton

Thursday's Class 6A final brings together two giants of Georgia volleyball. Alpharetta is chasing a historic three-peat, having claimed back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024. Walton, however, needs no introduction — the Raiders are one of the most decorated programs in the state, with a tradition of dominance that spans more than a decade. This matchup isn't just about the stars on the floor, but also about the younger depth stepping into crucial roles when momentum shifts. Lets take a look into some lesser recognized names on these rosters.

Addison is a young middle who's shown promise with her blocking presence and improving offensive timing. Her ability to get involved early could help Walton slow Alpharetta's attack and generate transition opportunities. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast

Cali's size and quick footwork allow her to close blocks effectively in the middle. She adds another layer to Walton's defensive wall and has the potential to swing momentum with big net plays. Her continued growth in timing and reading setters makes her a difference-maker. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast

London has the versatility to play six rotations and impacts the game in both offense and defense. She's vocal, reliable, and thrives in chaotic moments when Walton needs stability. Her ability to adjust on the fly makes her an X-factor in this final. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast

Emma provides Alpharetta with steady offense from the right side. She's capable of producing big swings when the defense keys on the outsides, and her ability to also contribute as a blocker makes her a versatile weapon. Expect her to give the Raiders balance when the spotlight is heavy on their primary scorers. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast

Lauren has been developing into a consistent presence on the outside. Her ability to extend rallies with smart swings and cover defensively in the back row adds depth to Alpharetta's rotation. In a final where every possession matters, her poise could prove invaluable. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast

Vivienne brings length and athleticism, showing flashes of future stardom as just a sophomore. She isn't afraid of the moment and has already stepped into pressure situations throughout the season. Look for her energy to provide Alpharetta a lift in key moments. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast

This championship is a clash of tradition versus momentum. Alpharetta is riding the confidence of back-to-back titles and has the depth to support their stars in big moments. Walton, however, has been here countless times and knows how to win when it matters most. Expect a fast-paced, high-level final — if Alpharetta's younger players can hold steady under the bright lights, a three-peat is within reach. But if Walton's depth steps up alongside their veteran leadership, the Raiders could be reclaiming the crown.

Note to GA Athletes:
If I didn't get the chance to write about you this week — I see you and I appreciate your game!
