Georgia’s State Champion Setters Lead Their Teams to Glory

In every championship run, there's a steady hand behind the scenes — a setter who controls the rhythm, dictates the offense, and sets the tone for the team's energy. Georgia's 2024 GHSA state champions each had one thing in common: an elite floor general who knew how to turn opportunity into execution. From the 7A powerhouse Walton to Class A's emerging Morgan County, these six setters were the architects of their team's success.    Only a sophomore, Graycen stood tall among veterans, directing the Bulldogs' offense with precision and confidence. She led her team with 461 assists and over an ace per set — a testament to her all-around impact. Her awareness on the floor and ability to make smart adjustments on the fly made her one of Class A's breakout stars. Morgan County's offense will continue to thrive with Graycen at the helm for years to come. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast     Marissa brought creativity and flair to the War Eagles' system, totaling 45 assists while maintaining excellent ball control. She stays composed under pressure and reads the flow of the game with maturity beyond her age. Whether running tempo plays or dropping in surprise dumps, Marissa keeps opponents off balance. Her leadership and poise were instrumental in Woodward's title-clinching performance. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast     Grace is the type of setter every hitter loves to play for — smart, consistent, and composed. She notched 70 assists and averaged 3.5 per set, proving she could manage both pace and precision in Marist's balanced attack. Her ability to run multiple offensive looks made her invaluable during the team's championship push. With her return next season, Marist's offense remains in good hands. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast     As Walton's secondary setter, Kylie complemented Julia Allison perfectly in their 6–2 system. She tallied 45 assists on the year, showcasing great court awareness and decision-making under pressure. Her quick release and aggressive second-touch options kept opposing defenses guessing. With her experience from this title run, she's ready to step into an even larger leadership role next season. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast     A steady senior presence, Julia guided Walton with elite consistency and control, averaging 3.5 assists per set. Her precision and calm demeanor allowed the Raiders to execute their high-speed offense with minimal errors. Julia's ability to spread the ball evenly across the front line made her indispensable in Walton's championship push. Her leadership leaves behind a lasting blueprint for the program's next generation. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast     The junior setter was the heartbeat of Lovett's championship run, tallying 78 assists and averaging nearly 4 per set. Ali's poise and vocal leadership allowed the Lions' offense to stay composed even in high-pressure moments. She thrives on tempo and reads blockers well, finding quick seams for her hitters.
