The Division 2 regionals look pretty enticing, with some major matchups between ranked teams set to happen throughout week.

Here's a closer look at each of the eight brackets and our guess for the eventual winner.

Regional 9 at Newberry

Semifinals: Kingsford vs. Ogemaw Heights; Alma vs. Garber

Breakdown: Garber, a D2 semifinalist from a year ago, draws a feisty Alma team. The Panthers play very sound around the floor, but will have their hands full with [player_tooltip player_id='458372' first='Jeana' last='Lenhard'] for Garber. Kingsford has been an Honorable Mention team in the D2 rankings, so this is its chance to prove its among the best in the state. However, Ogemaw Heights may be one of the more overlooked teams in D2. The Falcons have picked up a lot of wins and could be the sleeper in this region.

Finals Prediction: Garber over Ogemaw Heights

Regional 10 at Fremont

Semifinals: Fremont vs. Reed City; Fruitport vs. Ionia

Breakdown: This should be a solid regional as all four teams are looking to make some big noise for their programs. Ionia has been one of the breakout teams in D2 this year, but the Bulldogs are in some high-pressure territory this week. They're seeing new competition this week. Fruitport avenged a previous loss to Spring Lake to win their district. Fremont and Reed City are familiar with each other and the Packers have had the edge there.

Finals Prediction: Ionia over Fremont

Regional 11 at Grand Rapids South Christian

Semifinals: Grand Rapids Christian vs. Holland Christian; Grand Rapids Catholic Central vs. Lakewood

Breakdown: Another stacked region in the Grand Rapids area featuring No. 3 GRC, No. 4 GRCC, No. 5 Holland Christian, and a perennial power in Lakewood. Whichever team comes out of this bracket has to feel strongly about its chances to win a state championship. GRC holds wins over this field and defeated a tough South Christian team in the district final to get here. The Eagles know how to win this time of year and I expect more of that through the week.

Finals Prediction: GR Christian over GRCC

Regional 12 at Charlotte

Semifinals: Parma Western vs. Niles; BC Harper Creek vs. Tecumseh

Breakdown: Harper Creek and Tecumseh were two teams that reached Battle Creek last year and now they meet in a regional semifinal. Each has big power arms in [player_tooltip player_id='839825' first='Camille' last='Robinson'] for HC and [player_tooltip player_id='828524' first='Emma' last='Eldred'] for Tecumseh. It should be a great matchup. Parma Western made a big statement with a sweep of Marshall in the district final, while Niles had a tremendous five-set battle with Edwardsburg. Both teams are picking a fine time to find another gear.

Finals Prediction: Tecumseh over Parma Western

Regional 13 at Flat Rock

Semifinals: Dearborn Divine Child vs. Milan; Flat Rock vs. Wixom St. Catherine

Breakdown: This is a very intriguing region, as Divine Child and SCA are both battle-tested from playing in the Catholic League, while Milan and Flat Rock have each come through with some marquee wins. Flat Rock dethroned D3 power SMCC in league play for the first time, so they have plenty of confidence right now. But, each year it seems like these D2 CHSL teams get a bit overlooked because of their loss totals, but we quickly see those losses help build them into postseason powers.

Finals Prediction: Divine Child over Wixom St. Catherine

Regional 14 at Detroit Lincoln-King

Semifinals: Harper Woods Chandler Park vs. Detroit Lincoln-King; Ferndale vs. Detroit Voyageur College Prep

Breakdown: This region feels like a bit of a coin toss, as each team has its strengths and weaknesses, but which team is able to play most consistent and error-free is going to be the winner. Chandler Park has some nods over other teams in this region, and has the strongest resume in past seasons as well.

Finals Prediction: Chandler Park over Ferndale

Regional 15 at Yale

Semifinals: Marysville vs. Detroit Country Day; North Branch vs. Notre Dame Prep

Breakdown: This regional always seems to draw a lot of top-level teams. You've got the defending state champs and top-ranked Country Day facing Marysville in one semifinal, while No. 2 North Branch draws rival Pontiac Notre Dame Prep in the other semifinal. Marysville and NDP have been among top D2 contenders in previous seasons, but DCD and North Branch look to have too much firepower for both right now. A 1 vs. 2 matchup isn't ideal this early, but that seems likely on Thursday. Country Day seems to have more depth, but you can't every count out the Broncos, especially with [player_tooltip player_id='226888' first='Aubree' last='Deshetsky'] on the floor.

Finals Prediction: Country Day over North Branch

Regional 16 at Fowlerville

Semifinals: Goodrich vs. Williamston; Lake Fenton vs. Frankenmuth

Breakdown: This is a fun regional here that should be very competitive and features some hungry teams that may be overlooked this fall. Frankenmuth has had postseason success in recent years and shouldn't feel anxious taking the court. Lake Fenton and Goodrich are Flint Metro League foes that have split a pair of 5-set matches already this season. Williamston is a bit of an unknown based on it being more in the Lansing area, so the Hornets could have some tricks up their sleeve to keep their opponents guessing. All have challenged themselves during the season, but there's something about Frankenmuth's history of success that makes it feel like the team to beat.

Finals Prediction: Frankenmuth over Goodrich

The Division 2 regionals look pretty enticing, with some major matchups between ranked teams set to happen throughout week.
