A number of positions stood out at the exposure tour on Sunday, one of my personal favorites is the libero position. For the class of 2029 there are so many liberos that are top of the line athletes, who can pass, serve, and play defense with some of the best regardless of class. Every court you looked on saw some action from 1-2 liberos, as there was no shortage on Sunday.

We will take a look at some specific all star level liberos from the class of 2029.

One thing I Mary did really well at the event on Sunday was her ability to communicate while doing everything on the floor. She was talking in serve receive, she was communicating to hitters when she saw openings in coverage, and she was calling the for the ball every time is was near her. She was doing what we want to see in terms of calling and communicating for the ball.

Mary also is an excellent defender and really showed that throughout the event. She did a great job reading hitters and moving her feet to get to the ball. She had great form and technique on contact each and every time she touched the ball, whether in serve receive or defense. Mary also consistently delivered in-system passes during both drill work and live play, as she was solid throughout the whole event.

Mary is someone who can develop into a top tier libero, she demonstrated throughout the event traits and skills that are needed to be a top level libero. At the event itself, she was a standout and someone we took notice of both during drill and team play. We can't wait to see how she competes during club season, and are excited to watch her development.

Isabella really did well at the exposure tour in a number of areas. First she was very good with her technical ability. This included her footwork and form when contacting the ball. Her footwork and from made it easy to get to balls whether it was serve receive or in defense. She was rarely out of position and a lot of that was because of her footwork to get to the ball. Someone who has exceptional footwork and top tier speed is a huge different on the court and Isabella checks that off.

Besides her footwork and form, another big plus in the eyes of the scouts was her ability to be a leader on the floor. At showcases it is hard to be a leader, as everyone is a top level player but Isabella really stood out by leading the back row on her team each time she stepped on the floor. She would call out her seams, talk about where the other teams hitter were hitting the ball, and lead the energy charge after a big point. I LOVE a libero who has a ton of energy and teammates can gravitate toward in terms of using her energy and during 6 on 6 that is exactly what her team did.

Isabella has all the big tools a libero needs with her form, technique, and footwork, but what help set her apart from others is her ability to do that along with being a leader. She has all the tools needed to be a top level libero and was an easy pick to be an all star at our event.

Mya was a standout at the event for the liberos, a term we have been using a lot but Mya really was a standout. In serve receive she was always taking seam balls and giving her hitters time to load and attack the ball. She was using her elite technique to get her arms on the ball in a perfect location to create a seamless angles to the target. On more then one occasion I thought the server might have bested Mya, only for her to pass a 3 ball for the setter to run the offense.

On the serving side she was doing well being able to hit her target both in game play and individual drills. Showing a strong and consistent serve is a skill not a lot of liberos have but Mya had one of the best for the liberos. Being able to keep another team out of system not only made her job easier, but makes the rest of the team better as it is easier to read a hitter out of system.

Mya has great technique, form, and discipline that every libero needs to have. Mya projects as a high end libero and should work her way into the rankings at some point this year. We enjoyed seeing her compete at our exposure tour and look forward to seeing her during club season.

Briley looked really good throughout the event on Sunday. Multiple times she caught my attention by getting some high level digs, or by passing dimes in serve receive. I always head toward good libero play and Briley was playing at high level during the 6 on 6 portion.

She is a high-level passer with exceptional platform control and angle management by always having the ball end up at the target. Briley maintains strong form and balance through contact and consistently delivers clean, on-target passes to her setters to get the offense in system. She really showed a high ability to read the serve and anticipate where it was going before it ended up there. During 6 on 6 this was very evident as her team seemed to always be running a system when I came by to watch. A lot of good touches and balls where coming form the her on the court.

She has college level ability as a freshman from what we saw at the event. Given the fact she is only a freshman this really gives her time to continue her development as a high level player. We easily see her as one of our all stars and can't wait to watch her develop throughout the years.

Jameson came to the exposure tour and played amazingly throughout the day. One area that was exceptional was her posture and footwork on contact was elite. She always had her feet to the ball and would always have the correct posture whether she was passing from outside her body or balls hit right at her. She routinely throughout the event was passing balls on target and keeping her setters in system with her passes.

Another area of strength was her ability to use her hands in defense or out of system when she needed to. She also could use her platform when the setter would take the first ball and deliver a good ball to the hitters to get a good offensive attack. She was great at keeping her team in system whether with her own defense or ability to set her hitters up when the time called for it.

Southern AZ has a number of top level liberos throughout the high school ranks, but you may not see a better one over how well Jameson plays. She is someone who can do all the little things well on top of being a consistent high level libero. She was an easy pick to be a 2029 all star this weekend at the event and look forward to seeing her do well this club season!

Allison stands out by her defensive play alone, especially with how she played during the 6 on 6 portion. She does a great job reading hitters and getting into the proper defensive position early and often. Allison is also excellent at reading off speed shots or balls that deflect off the block. She is able to get her feet to the ball with ease as she has exceptional footwork to go along with how well she can read hitters.

Another part of her game that stood out was her ability to move and transition from defense to coverage back to defense with easy. The ability to transition and have the court awareness to always be in the right spot is something you learn as you get older. For Allison to be able to move her feet and get in long rallies and still always be in the right spot was great to see at a young age. She literally never had to look around to see where she was or take her eyes off the ball, she just trusted her instinct and court awareness to know she was right.

Allison has the footwork and reading capability to be a top level libero for 2029. She also has other attributes that make her the complete libero teams look for. Expect to see a jump in our 2029 rankings when they come out as she really stood out with her game this weekend.

Gabriela did well during individual drills by standing out by being consistent in her serve receive and serving ability. During drills she was able to consistently put balls where she needed with her serve while challenging her opponents with a good hard driven float. Her passing was also on point by her being able to pass to the target on a consistent basis. She has very good form and gets her hands to the ball with ease to make solid contact each play.

Besides using the word consistent with her game play, the other word I would use would be effort/hustle (yes I know it is technically 2 words but you get me). Throughout 6 on 6 Gabriela would be going for balls all over the place, even if it was almost impossible to get she would try to go for it. You can teach a lot about volleyball, but teaching that kind of effort and hustle is not something that can be taught. She really stood out by her hustle and effort throughout the games.

Gabriela projects as a high end libero from the class of 2029, she is someone who gives it her all each and every play and does so with consistent form and technique. The ceiling is high for her and we look forward to seeing her continue to develop into a all star libero.
