We're not done highlighting breakout juniors from this year's state tournament. Beberniss stood out for her ability to do just about anything in Garden County's starting rotation. She's a leading attacker in the front row who averaged a career-best 0.247 hitting clip as a junior. Beberniss carries the rare role of swinging on the left side along the net and running the offense across the back row. This is a persistent triple-double threat who engineered Garden County's huge 2025 surge, so expect even more positive results during the new year.

Middle blockers were a clear focal point of our latest 2027 additions. Esch is among our most physical new 2027s in the watch list, boasting a five-foot-ten frame and a ton of frontcourt range. Her massive uptick in attacking volume this fall culminated in over 150 kills and a team-best 0.256 hitting percentage. Unsurprisingly, Esch also wielded her imposing net presence to lead the Chargers in total blocks, too. This all-around impact showed up in Riverside's win column, catalyzing a 25-5 overall record in an ultra-competitive Class D1 race.

Add to the list of middles. Richards burst onto the scene with Maywood-Hayes Center and established herself as a permanent starter in the front row. She's a multi-sport standout who has found her groove on the volleyball side, soaring into triple-digit kill totals while being May-Hay's most efficient terminator. Richards also boasts impressive lateral quickness for her size and is adept at closing seams from pin to pin. Perhaps Richards and the Wolves will reclaim their state tournament spot in 2026--a common occurrence for this powerhouse program.

Philips is one of the most unique athletes in our 2027 database. She scores from various gaps in the front row but has favored the middle blocker spot in recent matches. However, Philips is also a six-rotation threat who compiled an eye-popping dig total for Bertrand this fall. Her 5.6 digs per set anchored a Viking defense that had plenty of productive athletes along the end line. Philips' contributions didn't stop there, as she also led Bertrand in blocks by a wide margin. You never know what to expect from Nebraska's multi-position "utility" players on the small-town stage.

Speaking of defense, Warnke is another athlete who put up monster backcourt numbers despite not being a full-time libero. This versatile junior racked up over 400 digs for Boyd County while also embracing an offensive niche as a right-side hitter. Warnke did most of her defensive work in the right-back area, a difficult zone for most players to lock down. She handled tips with ease and was not afraid to absorb some heat down the line, leading to a stark improvement in Boyd County's win column in 2025.

Let's get the setters involved. Kern took the reins of York's offense this fall and put out nearly nine assists per set for the Dukes. In addition to running a quick, precise attack, Kern also exhibited her aggression at the net and amassed nearly 100 kills on the second contact. Her multi-faceted game was complete with 3.8 digs per set as a Zone 1 defender, making Kern one of Class B's best stat-stuffing setters. Not bad for a debut season as the full-time starter.

Paxton High School rounds out our small-town flair to this 2027 feature. Like Kern, Kramer stepped into the leading setter role as a junior and immediately thrived with over eight assists per set. The Tigers scrapped to a 17-14 record behind their upperclassman setter's scrappy play and on-court leadership. Kramer wasn't shy about challenging opposing hitters at the net despite having a height disadvantage on the pin. Her attitude and effort set the tone.
