They are asked to score, pass, defend, lead, and often carry the emotional weight of the match. Most players need time to grow into that responsibility.   The athletes featured here didn't wait.   In their first year of high school volleyball, these outside hitters showed they were prepared—not just to survive the moment, but to influence it. What stood out wasn't only their physical skill set, but the habits behind it. They showed up early. They stayed late. They accepted coaching. They competed through mistakes. And when the pace picked up, they didn't shy away from the work.   As scouts, we look closely at how young players respond to challenge. These outside hitters responded with growth.
