She stayed involved at the net and worked to be an option in transition instead of floating through rotations. The effort level stayed high even as points extended, which says a lot in a weather-weekend grind. She looks like someone who's going to keep leveling up as the season stretches on. ~ Z.R. She was active at the net, staying engaged play-to-play instead of taking reps off between touches. You could see her competing for space and trying to influence points even when the set didn't come her way. The energy and focus she brings gives her team a steadier front-court feel. ~ Z.R. She stayed active in transition and didn't disappear when points got messy. What stood out most was her edge — she competes with intent and doesn't look rattled by momentum swings. That toughness is a real separator as pool play tightens up. ~ Z.R. Nix @BenchtoBeast_prepdigga

With schedules disrupted and opportunities limited over the last few weeks, showing up ready to compete at BOTSE matters. These middle blockers didn't just fill a spot in the lineup — they brought energy, focus, and a willingness to battle through long points and long days. Their effort and presence stood out live, and weekends like this are often where growth starts to show. As the season gets back into rhythm, these are the kinds of players who set the tone moving forward.

Note to GA Athletes:

If you'd like to be considered for future coverage, please send me your high school season schedule and share a little bit about yourself so I can come support you and share your story. After two weeks of weather wiping out a ton of volleyball in Georgia, Beast of the Southeast (BOTSE) feels like a reset button — and it's not lost on anyone how much commitment it takes just to show up ready to compete. Between travel, schedule changes, and the grind of a full tournament day, these athletes earned a real shoutout for staying locked in and playing with intent. Here are five middle blockers who stood out early for both play level and the intangibles that show up live.
