I had the pleasure of scouting a club volleyball practice/scrimmage on January 21 in North Topeka.

Members of the [program_tooltip program_id='430193' first='Kansas' last='Networks Volleyball Club']'s 15-2 and 15-4 teams competed with and against each other in a two-hour practice at Logan Elementary School.

Prep Dig Profiles have been created for each athlete; those not currently in the rankings will be added later this spring or early summer during the next round of updates.

The 15-4 squad, also goes by Crossfire 15-2, is a salty, defense-oriented group that serves well.

What they lack in height, they make up for with their receiving and digging skills.

This is the second of two reports covering participating athletes. If you missed the first report this morning, which was posted at the crack of dawn, you can use the link below.

Crossfire 15-1

Here is a look at five prospects who stood out during last night's workout.

Wishon was the first of several surprises from this group. This was a team, with not one player on it that I was familiar with. I shared a message with both teams about what can make players stand out from others, and Wishon and the others took heed. Wishon arguably is the most well-rounded athlete in Crossfire 15-2. She appears to be a potential six-rotation athlete who can hit and play defense. She has solid court instincts. On a team where the three tallest girls are each 5-foot-7, Wishon has the jumping skills to make up for those two inches. She, like the rest of the athletes in this report, will be added to the Prep Dig Kansas Class of 2029 rankings later this year.

Collins can make a ball shake. In my opinion, she is the strongest and most physical athlete on this team. Her elevator runs all the way to the penthouse. It's been a while since I have seen the Topeka West Chargers compete, so she was a new face. She has a hard line-drive serve with some nasty sink at the end. Collins has a ton of potential to be an impact blocker.

Rural's Grier was fun to watch. This whole group plays solid defense, which I would expect from their young coach, Myiah Soderberg, a Washburn Rural and Prep Dig Alum. Grier has a quiet platform and plays the ball. She is also not afraid to skin her knees up, pads or not. She is one of four players under 5-foot-5 who shocked me with their serving skills.

Hudson is a sparkplug who brings a ton of energy to the court. She has a high IQ for the game. She was super focused and aggressive during the practice. She seemed ready to show up and show out, knowing that a scout was in attendance. The KAWs are another team I have not recently seen, although I have seen their athletes at club events in the past. One of Hudson's prep teammates, [player_tooltip player_id='937551' first='Maci' last='Spreer'], is on this club team, but missed the practice due to another athletic conflict.

It was a real treat getting to watch Wann compete, especially since I was told she was expected to miss the practice. That's like being told Baskin-Robbins is out of bananas. To only have bananas suddenly appear. Wann has an accurate serve. She is as quick as a five-year-old eating a chocolate sundae. She reads hitters well, and I have a suspicious mind that she might still have a growth spurt. "Elvis has left the building."

I had the pleasure of scouting a club volleyball practice/scrimmage on January 21 in North Topeka.
