Little Big South Preview: 6 Setters, Middles and DS to Watch

The players who stabilize, organize, and quietly decide outcomes.   While pins finish points, matches are often won by the athletes who control structure — setters who dictate rhythm, middles who own space, and defenders who keep systems intact. This group represents the backbone of elite teams heading into Little Big South.    Amelia competes in every phase of the game. She moves with urgency, stays engaged through broken plays, and plays physically even when the rally turns scrappy. Her motor never drops, and her presence adds edge to the lineup. She's the kind of athlete who raises the competitive temperature on the court. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast     Aliya plays with command and edge. She gets to the ball quickly, sets with firm hands, and doesn't shy away from running her offense aggressively against strong blocks. Her tempo stays assertive even under pressure, and she competes defensively to extend rallies. She brings toughness to the position — the kind of setter who wants the ball when momentum is on the line. ~ Samantha Fitzgerald @BenchtoBeast     Lilah competes with urgency and control. She pushes pace when defenses hesitate and isn't afraid to challenge matchups head-on. Her movement is decisive, her delivery confident, and she stays aggressive in transition rather than defaulting to safety. She closes blocks with intent, takes away space aggressively, and challenges hitters rather than reacting late. Offensively, she moves fast in transition and finishes with purpose. She attacks the ball, stays low through contact, and absorbs pace without backing down. Her competitiveness shows in her willingness to chase tough touches and keep rallies alive.
