The Crazy Eight: Kansans With Powerful And Accurate Serves

Earlier this morning, I published a report on five state leaders in terms of aces and serving percentage. This is not an all-inclusive list; to be included in this report, athletes needed to record 80 aces and achieve at least an 80 percent serving accuracy. [player_tooltip player_id='907071' first='Lindsay' last='Coleman'], 5'6”, OH, Argonia, ‘28   Coleman finished her sophomore season with 103 aces in 81 sets played for the Raiders. She finished with an impressive 97 percent serving accuracy.  She has recorded back-to-back seasons with 200-plus kills and 300-plus digs.   [player_tooltip player_id='913495' first='Hannah' last='Hoelscher'], 5'2”, S, Homeschool, ‘29   Hoelscher is ranked No. 54 overall in the Kansas Class of 2029. She finished her freshman season with 142 aces and a save percentage of 80 percent. She also dished out 397 assists in 94 sets played.   [player_tooltip player_id='850716' first='Maranda' last='Zink'], 5'7”, OH, Shawnee Mission Christian, ‘26   Zink is ranked No. 282 in the Kansas Class of 2026.  During her senior season, she recorded 94 aces in 52 sets played with a serving percentage of 87 percent.   [player_tooltip player_id='907062' first='Katelyn' last='Detweiler'], 5'7”, S, Axtell, ‘28   Axtell's Detweiler is ranked No. 107 overall in the Kansas Class of 2028. She finished her sophomore season with 84 aces in 96 sets played. She recorded a serving percentage of 95 percent for the Eagles. She passed out an impressive total of 813 assists last fall.   [player_tooltip player_id='909061' first='Liberty' last='Swingle'], 5'10”, MB, Attica, ‘27   Swingle is ranked No. 282 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027. She recorded 84 aces for the Attica Bulldogs in 86 sets played. She finished with 94 percent serving accuracy. She had a chunky junior season stat line, which included 287 kills, 202 digs, 238 assists, and 71 blocks.   [player_tooltip player_id='832565' first='Halle' last='Mizner'], 5'9”, OH, Rock Hills, ‘26   Rock Hills' Mizner is ranked No. 98 in the Kansas Class of 2026.  During her senior season, she recorded 84 aces in 81 sets played with a serving percentage of 85 percent. She registered 370 kills in her final prep season and finished as a member of the 1,000-kill Club with 1,078.   [player_tooltip player_id='699385' first='Jonalee' last='Zweygardt'], 5'6”, S, South Gray, ‘27   Zweygardt is ranked No. 116 in the Kansas Class of 2027.  She finished with 83 aces in 93 sets played for the Rebels. Her serving accuracy ended up at a 92 percent clip. She dished out 795 assists last season and has a total of 1623 in the past two seasons.
