In a resurgence, compared to last season, [program_tooltip program_id='430897' first='Ultimate' last='Performance Volleyball Club']'s 15 Elite team burst out the gate, winning the 15U Division at Tulsa Attack. Never really being tested until the semi-final match against 316VBC out of the Heart of America Region, they were able to survive in a 3 set thriller. A similar story unfolded in the finals against a very tough [program_tooltip program_id='776295' first='Tulsa' last='Power'] 15-2 team, with Ultimate taking the first set before falling to Power in the 2nd set. They were able to show some toughness and rallied back to win the championship in the 3rd and final set 15 to 11.

Marley Dokes

Marley was a force for Ultimate at the middle blocker position all day. Her mere presence in in the middle of the net forced teams to think twice about running a middle attack. It seemed as if she never lost a 50/50 ball, joust, or any other opportunity to win at the net. She consistently transitioned well, and seemed very comfortable running the up tempo 1 attack. Her high contact point made it nearly impossible for the opposing blockers to get a hand on the ball. She was also able to contribute as the serving middle, with a consistent and aggressive float serve.

Kennedy Muse

Another big weapon for Ultimate is outside hitter Kennedy Muse. She plays with a tempo and effort that her opponents really struggled to match. What really stands out is her ability to generate power on her swings. She has a very quick, aggressive approach, opens up to her setter, and is able to close her hips on each swing- generating a ton of speed on the ball. Whether tight to the net, or further off, she is able to consistently take tough swings due to her strong wrist snap on the ball.

Emma Dalman

Emma was able to contribute in several ways this weekend, and was a big part of why her team was able to come out on top. She consistently delivered perfect balls on the outside to the aforementioned Muse- keeping her involved in the offense at all times, and right on tempo. When she rotated into the front row- she put a ton of pressure on the opposing defense in the rotation she shared with Muse- making it tough for the middle blocker to decide which was the bigger threat. She kept the offense rolling providing a ton of great swings on the from the right side, as the primary pin attacker in her other 2 rotations.

Jayda Moon

After primarily playing the setter position and occasional right side hitter for Virago last season, it was interesting to see Jayda wearing the libero jersey for Ultimate in her first tournament. Despite the newness of the position- Jayda turned in a solid performance. She reads and moves well- something that is a necessity when your libero is playing in middle back. She was up to the task in serve receive as well, and generated some points with her serve.

Shelby Marlow

Last but not least, Marlow was able to round out the lineup and kept the flow going for 3 rotations in Ultimate's 6-2 offense. Shelby played like a veteran- understanding who her hot hitters were, and where her team had a matchup advantage. She kept her opposite (Dalman) involved in the game, making some very athletic back sets when most players would have settled for an easier option.
