Uncommitted Libs and Future Rising Talent

The libero position at every age continues to be the core and heart of every team. Without their hustle, execution, and vocal abilities, a team's success would not be as achievable. The libs featured in this article are from the classes of '27, '28, '29, and '31. Regardless of age, they have a great first contact, lack no hesitation to pursue balls, step into seams, and they anchor the defense backrow.    RRHVB 18-1   Something that stood out to me about [player_tooltip player_id='807237' first='Sadie' last='Halvorsen']'s game is the ease with which she plays. She played against some heavy hitters in this tournament, but Sadie's control in absorbing some of that heat and making big plays accelerated her team at the right moments. She has efficient footwork in serve receive with a simple, quiet platform. Sadie takes care of balls with confidence in the seams and does a great job of communicating early.     MPV 17 National Green   [player_tooltip player_id='808484' first='Brynn' last='Spackman'] is fluid and controlled when she steps on the court. She has great ball control to take care of hard-driven balls and pick up off-speed shots falling to the donut or over the block. Her ability to play both left back and middle back distinguishes her as a versatile and reliable defender.   My favorite part about her game is the control, speed, and hustle she plays with. Even when Brynn is chasing down balls off the court or making big plays to extend rallies, all of her movements are smooth and deliberate. Brynn understands how to manipulate her platform in serve receive to create the correct angles when she's pushed deep or moving up to pass a drop or short serve.     [player_tooltip player_id='918683' first='Anna' last='Marshall'] of Elevate 17 Nike Kekoa is a high-energy, vocal backcourt leader. She has a great first contact to extend rallies and set up offenses in serve receive and defense. Her ball control and technique are sound, allowing her to effectively situate out of system sets for her pins and dig hard-hit balls. Anna does a great job at not only getting balls up, but also ensuring that they are playable and in the right location for her setter to run an offense.     Macie Broadbent plays with scrappiness and hustle. She makes good reads on defense with a good first step to pursue anything off-speed. Macie does a great job at setting her hitters out of system, maintaining a consistent height and location. She creates strong angles in serve receive and has good footwork to track the ball off the server's hand. Macie's energy and communication help anchor defense in the back row and stabilize serve receive.     15 Prodigy Steph   [player_tooltip player_id='935194' first='Aria' last='Stowers'] is a player I have been watching for a while, and her growth has been awesome to watch. Last year she was on the 4's, and now is making her mark on the 1's this season.   She has a steady platform in serve receive and works hard to identify where the ball is going. Aria makes good reads on defense and executes with confidence. Although there is still room to grow, her development and progress are noticeable. The great thing about Aria is she has the foundation to continue becoming a strong defensive leader.     14 Prodigy Silver   [player_tooltip player_id='935191' first='Mylia' last='Inafuku'] is a hustler. She has strong court and positional awareness that allows her teammates around her to stay grounded and play a bit more freely. Her speed and agility really shine when she sprawls forward underneath hard-driven balls, pursuing balls off the court, or diving to get under off-speed shots or tips over the block.     14 Prodigy Silver   Everything [player_tooltip player_id='935197' first='Anna' last='Lin'] does on the court is simple and controlled. She does a great job at getting her hips under the ball to take out of system sets and putting them in consistent, hittable locations. Even though Anna is young, she shows a lot of potential just through her simplicity and ability to control her movements on defense and serve receive.   She understands how to create angles early to pass deep and short balls and how to absorb force from a hard-driven ball to keep it on her side. I am excited to see how she continues to progress through the rest of this season and into the next few years ahead.
