Who Showed Up and Showed Out for the MLK Extravaganza

This weekend's MLK Extravaganza in Hamilton Ohio proved to be another hotbed of talent from Ohio and surrounding states! We were pleased to see the venue at Spooky Nook packed to capacity with multiple teams represented from a good variety of clubs with all age groups! It was a fantastic weekend with the talent pool overflowing! Here is our first recap of players for the weekend that impressed!    Aniya has a presence at the net you could notice two courts away, and that we did! With an imposing frame and a bucket load full of talent Aniya wasn't hard to miss. She puts up a solid block with an excellent vertical and great timing and reach. She displayed excellent court IQ putting herself in the correct position communicating with her setter for the ball to connect for big kills, multiple times. She has a big, fast, solid swing backed up by a huge vertical allowing her to get on top of those balls and connect with a huge explosion resulting in big points for her team! Aniyah shows excellent enthusiasm on the court for her teammates on the court and on the bench with lots of personality and love for the game! Major, major player!     Milena(pictured) is an elite Libero who has textbook skills and demonstrates them regularly on the court and can do it under pressure. The play we saw from Milena was far beyond her young years more like that of a seasoned pro. She has an amazing platform, with perfect stance and moves her feet to get to the ball quickly and ahead of the play. She demonstrates perfect agility with side-to-side movements, getting low and absorbing hits with perfect shoulder angulation and control to pass up fluidly. She digs heartily and passes accurately as a defensive specialist holding down the back row. We saw excellent serves with total composure and confident, enthusiastic play with a superior read of the opposition! A wonderful, super prospect that has a great future!     Lilly is an athlete that comes to play! She caught our eye with her fast feet and strong clean swing for Rock City. She has a fast attack with a clean approach, with an excellent arm swing that helps propel her to a good vertical. She makes excellent contact with the ball, shows good control and placement and can let loose a beautiful cross court kill will excellent downward trajectory to hit between the seams and rack up points for her team! She shows excellent enthusiasm on the front line, can dig up balls tight to the net and covers well. Her court IQ is sharp always moving with the play and supports her teammates. She can absolutely take to the next level!     Addison puts on an impressive performance on the court! With a huge block with great vertical and technique the front line is secure with Addi on the net, she covers well, moves quicky up and down the line and can take a big strong left handed clean swing to tally up kills coming from a superb attack which she stems from proper footwork transitioning off the net with speed and power. She had excellent ball control placing balls deep or short between the seams with great contact and engages that core for pure power! An energetic dynamic player executing right handed tips to keep the ball in play with excellent court IQ and enthusiasm! Loved her play in every sense, gamechanger!     [player_tooltip player_id='212388' first='Payton' last='Avilez'] once again shows us what an incredible athlete she is! She puts out a solid performance every opportunity we see her! She has fast reactions on the court, makes plays happen, and hold her team together! She has a consistently amazing strong swing, that she can place hits deep or down the line accurately, can play tight to the net or attack from mid court delivering points. She will self sacrifice for a dig and keep that ball in play, she serves up a storm and is confident and composed! An enthusiastic player showing leadership qualities on the court. Payton brings her A game every set, a must have player!
