The final play date of the Heart of America (HOA) 16s [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] League delivered everything fans hoped for: upsets out of the gate, third-set thrillers, and a reshuffling of the top positions that wasn't settled until the very last match. After 10 total matches per team across two play dates, Mavs KC 16-1 emerged as the [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] League champions, finishing with a dominant 9–1 record.

Mavs entered the weekend at 4–1 and delivered a flawless performance on the final day, going 5–0 with wins over Shockwave, [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='[program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''], [program_tooltip program_id='515493' first='Club' last='North'], Apex, and closing with a championship-caliber victory over adidas [program_tooltip program_id='428889' first='Dynasty' last=''] 16-1 in the final match of the event.

Their 9–1 finish wasn't just impressive; it came with elite-level execution in high-pressure situations. Mavs's consistency, depth, and clutch play elevated them above the rest of the field.

[player_tooltip player_id='543378' first='Olivia' last='Maciel'] was dominant on the pins and showed time and time again that she can affect the match from the back row with her attacking. I was highly impressed with her play throughout the day. Additionally, [player_tooltip player_id='800559' first='Sloane' last='Fende'] is lights out from the libero position. She is a player who caught my attention and interest moving forward.

[program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='[program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] and Adidas [program_tooltip program_id='428889' first='Dynasty' last=''] 16-1 entered the weekend tied at 5–0 and 4–1, respectively, but both faced tougher sledding on the final play date.

[program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='[program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] suffered two key losses. A stunning upset that started the day against an Invasion squad that had not won a match yet in the [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] League. They did rebound with wins over [program_tooltip program_id='428889' first='Dynasty' last=''] 16-2 and a [program_tooltip program_id='515493' first='Club' last='North'] Team. [program_tooltip program_id='428889' first='Dynasty' last=''] had a challenging schedule and went 3-2 on the day.

[program_tooltip program_id='428892' first='PVA' last=''] turned heads all day, going 4–1 to finish 7–3 overall, good for 4th place. Their only loss came early in league play; on the final day, they dominated:

2–0 vs Shockwave

2–0 vs Mizuno CN

2–0 vs [program_tooltip program_id='428889' first='Dynasty' last=''] 16-2

2–0 vs Topeka Saints

2–0 vs Invasion

[program_tooltip program_id='428892' first='PVA' last=''] closed the league with five straight sweeps, the longest sweep streak of any team in the [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] League's final weekend.

Middle of the Pack: Mizuno CN and Apex

Both teams finished at 6–4, showing they can battle with the top tier while still searching for more consistency.

Mizuno [program_tooltip program_id='515493' first='Club' last='North'] (5th, 6–4)

Mizuno posted strong wins, including:

2–1 over [program_tooltip program_id='428889' first='Dynasty' last=''] 16-1

2–0 over Invasion

They stayed competitive in nearly every match, showing they belong among the upper-third of the field. I really liked the play of [player_tooltip player_id='729548' first='Kinley' last='Carr'] over the course of the day. Her decision-making was on point.

Apex Volleyball Club (6th, 6–4)

Apex finished with multiple key matches:

2–1 win over Invasion

2–0 loss to [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last='']

2–0 loss to [program_tooltip program_id='428889' first='Dynasty' last=''] 16-1

2–0 loss to MAVS

2–1 win over Shockwave

Their schedule was one of the league's toughest, and they proved they could compete with anyone.

Additional Standouts

I had the ability to see a good number of players on the day. While I didn't get to spend a lot of time at every court, here are additional players who stood out, with some being on the [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] League 2 side of the gym.

Sereen Alabasi - OH - Mavs 16-2

For the rotations Alabasi enters, she's instant offense on the outside. She is aggressive and does a good job of using the hands of the defense. I was really impressed with her ability to go line.

[player_tooltip player_id='884058' first='Ellen' last='Dorsey'] - S - [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='[program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] 16-2

Dorsey is an athletic setter in the 5-1 system. Her back row defense doesn't get talked about enough in my opinion. She makes great decisions on where to send the ball, keeping the front line defense off-balance.

[player_tooltip player_id='935874' first='Audrey' last='Pearce'] - Pin - Static Volleyball 16-1

Pearce brings a heavy blow behind her swings. She put a couple of balls off the head of waiting defenders.

Aniyah Billingsley - MB - Shockwave Volleyball 16-1

The athletic Billingsley stood out in the middle for Shockwave in the match I saw against the Mavs to start the day. She is quick off the floor and has good vision in her shot placement.

[player_tooltip player_id='832443' first='Gracyn' last='Lamley'] - OH - [program_tooltip program_id='428892' first='PVA' last=''] 16-1

Lamley is a strong scorer on the outside for [program_tooltip program_id='428892' first='PVA' last='']. She brings [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] with her swings and has a good mix of shots to choose from.

[player_tooltip player_id='518378' first='Claire' last='Ashley'] - RS - [program_tooltip program_id='428892' first='PVA' last=''] 16-1

Ashley stood out weeks ago at MLK and followed her play up with a good showing on the second day of [program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last=''] League. Her ability to be a scoring threat on the right side opens things up in the middle and on the left pin.

Bralynn Brown - L - Invasion 16-1

The backrow defense for Invasion played at an elite level in the upset win over [program_tooltip program_id='430200' first='KC' last='[program_tooltip program_id='428794' first='Power' last='']. Brown was the anchor in the libero jersey, getting touches on numerous balls in the match and keeping the floor clean.

[player_tooltip player_id='507591' first='Addison' last='Brazzle'] - DS - Invasion 16-1

Brazzle joined Brown as a dynamic duo in the opening match of the day. Her passing and defense were clutch in the big-time win that shocked the gym.

The final play date of the Heart of America (HOA) 16s Power League delivered everything fans hoped for: upsets out of the gate, third-set thrillers, and a reshuffling of the top positions that wasn't settled until the very last match. After 10 total matches per team across two play dates, Mavs KC 16-1 emerged as the Power League champions, finishing with a dominant 9–1 record.
